Damn this kit looks awesome . Great to hear about actual testing being done at the track and for a no brainer track setup looks really good. Definitely on the top of my list currently for F/I.

Can't wait to see how this will do on the CSG BRZ.

Do we know what fuel was used for the dyno plots at the beginning of the thread?

91 California octane. 91 octane in California contains up to 10% ethanol mix.

Are there any more pictures of the JR kit. One top down shot angled from the front doesn't give a whole lot of information as to how the kit comes together. How big is the intercooler, how close is the intake tube to all the moving parts, how does the s/c mount. Is it upgradeable or is the FMIC supplied only good for the C30. I placed a deposit on the KW kit weeks ago but I'm still curious about how this kit is put together. As for design philosophy only time will tell which one is better.

One of the biggest reasons we went JR instead of KW is because the KW belt system has a belt whine. Being in Southern California, we prefer to keep our street cars low key. However, the noise is a selling point for a lot of people, because they WANT the EVO/STI/Mustang/etc. next to them at the light to know they're supercharged. Again, both systems use the same supercharger.
actually the KW toothed belt drive is pretty quiet. have you heard the car firsthand or is this 'belt whine' heresay relayed to you by third parties?

typically 'supercharger whine' is either from the internal compressor rotors (ie roots or screw style positive displacement compressor) or from the internal drive gears (ie vortech style centrifugals).

judging from pictures of their kit, the JR uses an 8 row intercooler (maybe 9). The KW kit uses an 11 row high flow cooler for better cooling and has been used effectively on applications making up to 460whp (ie 8th and 9th gen Civic Si kits). A larger intercooler will be available for custom or racing applications using the C38 supercharger

the JR kit also appears to use a 2" diameter hot side pipe into the intercooler. from our experience with other kit designs, 2" is a horsepower restrictor. the KW kit uses a 2.5" diameter hot side pipe. this is made possible because the KW includes a new washer bottle allowing the larger tubing to be routed.

Dear gmsii,

50mm is enough for over 500hp, so I don't buy that at all.

Please grow up a bit and stop your pissing match with CSG/Jackson.

Best regards,
Unicorn

oops...i thought i was in a KW thread...i will edit post and make them more appropriate for the JR thread

as for 50mm tubing being enough for 500hp, this may be true, but on 400whp Honda Civic Si's when the hot pipe is changed from 2" to 2.5" the horsepower gains are significant

also...i am only presenting factual information from an opposing viewpoint...not really pissing

What maintenance is involved with this C30-94? Oil changes? How frequent?

Nevermind...I found the answer on rotrex's website. Looks like every 50k miles or 2yrs.

I have, in fact, seen the car on multiple occasions. It's very obvious that the car is either modified or that something is wrong. It's just my personal preference to have the quietest system possible given how aggressive law enforcement has been in Southern California.

I've already been burned with ref tickets for rotrex kits on other cars that are "CARB pending" that never actually received CARB certification.

Also, you'll want to change the magnetic filter that goes in-line during the Rotrex Traction Fluid change when you perform the maintenance.
