I really hope they bring back Trueno or Levin though. How about Lluvia (sp. for rain) since we already have thunder and lightning lol!
Go with Storm or Cyclone, since there are rain, thunder, and lightning.
Anyway, I also think that Aeon is a great name. They should go for it.

I think they will call it a Celica. One reason is that the namplate "Celica" is already well known.

My sister is already calling it the Celica. From time to time she would be like "whats up with the new Celica, when is it gonna be here?"

I'm sorry, but it's not a celica.

Even if it DOES carry the Celica nameplate at production (which I doubt), it ISN'T a celica. It's the hachi-roku 2.

Just because the Celica badge is well-known doesn't mean Toyota's gonna slap it on this thing. Toyota wants to make it clear that it's going in a new direction, not sticking to what it's been doing. This car will have a new nameplate, or at least one America hasn't seen.
This car is Toyota's fresh start.

(Also, Celica's got a mean stigma.)

Edit: I'll bet you $5 it won't be a Celica. (I'll really pay if you win.)

^Well I'm poor so I'll past :p

But past articles said Toyota was considering the Celica nameplate for the FT-86. We can fight about all day, but when its all said and done we really don't know what Toyota is going to call it we can only guess, and does it really matter? Its going to be a sweet car regardless of a dumb namplate/badge which I'm sure a number of people are going to debadge anyways.

I'll debadge it, but not because I don't like the name or something. I'd rather my car not be a billboard.
I don't give out free advertising, and I don't put bumper stickers on my car or anything, so.. I'll keep mine clean.

Just saying, the car isn't a Celica.

The nameplate shouldn't be our biggest concern. Lets just hope we don't get it all water down and fugly looking like what Honda did to the CR-Z.

Right. Toyota should give a new name to a yet-to-be legend.

Yeah, I know... I saw and decided to take a swing at ya .

I don't think most people on here got it anyway (seeing as most probably don't know what verga means)

Bullshit. It's not anymore "not" a celica that it is "not" a corolla.

^ What they said. From an Image perspective, I think a new name is best. From a marketing perspective, Celica is the only sensible option. It's well known, has a lot of history and people all over the world ADORE it. Doubt they are gonna change up the name for different markets this time around. At the end of the day, for me personally, I don't care, but I want this car to sell as much as possible so that there will be future versions and more sports cars from Toyota. If this tanks, you can forget about either.

When are some of you guys going to get it though your heads that the 86 is a chassis number and not a model name?

Don't you know? Ppl never learn...

You think Celica is the only sensible option? What if they named it Supra, is it not sensible? First gen Supra was NA: 5M-E and curb weight was around 1270kg (iirc).
