![]() Anyway, I also think that Aeon is a great name. They should go for it.

I think they will call it a Celica. One reason is that the namplate "Celica" is already well known.

Even if it DOES carry the Celica nameplate at production (which I doubt), it ISN'T a celica. It's the hachi-roku 2. Just because the Celica badge is well-known doesn't mean Toyota's gonna slap it on this thing. Toyota wants to make it clear that it's going in a new direction, not sticking to what it's been doing. This car will have a new nameplate, or at least one America hasn't seen. This car is Toyota's fresh start. (Also, Celica's got a mean stigma.) ![]() Edit: I'll bet you $5 it won't be a Celica. (I'll really pay if you win.) Last edited by Lexicon101; 03-15-2010 at 03:25 AM. Reason: putting money where my mouth is |

^Well I'm poor so I'll past :p
But past articles said Toyota was considering the Celica nameplate for the FT-86. We can fight about all day, but when its all said and done we really don't know what Toyota is going to call it we can only guess, and does it really matter? Its going to be a sweet car regardless of a dumb namplate/badge which I'm sure a number of people are going to debadge anyways. Last edited by vh_supra26; 03-15-2010 at 04:16 AM. |

I'll debadge it, but not because I don't like the name or something. I'd rather my car not be a billboard.
I don't give out free advertising, and I don't put bumper stickers on my car or anything, so.. I'll keep mine clean. Just saying, the car isn't a Celica. |

The nameplate shouldn't be our biggest concern. Lets just hope we don't get it all water down and fugly looking like what Honda did to the CR-Z.

Bullshit. It's not anymore "not" a celica that it is "not" a corolla. Quote:
When are some of you guys going to get it though your heads that the 86 is a chassis number and not a model name? |

![]() You think Celica is the only sensible option? What if they named it Supra, is it not sensible? First gen Supra was NA: 5M-E and curb weight was around 1270kg (iirc). |
