i went to the store the other day trying to find an old-fashioned netbook for this purpose, couldn't find one. makes me wish i'd never got rid of mine. tablet wouldn't work well as all of the touch targets would be too small to effectively do anything with (imagine selecting table cells scaled down to a 7" screen).
does anyone still make a cheap 'netbook' type pc that runs windows? |

holly cow, you're right. let's say you really need just 1 usb and then could us ea usb hub, but those prices for windows pads! i'm thinking how hard it would be to get asus memopad hd 7 and install windows on it.

I looked into the idea of using a consumer tablet for tuning. Until I experienced how flakey they can be when low on battery and when heated up by direct sunlight. The touchscreen gets flaky, screen gets dim and functionality suffers. Same things that happen to cheap laptops but worse because consumer tablets tend to be more heat sensitive (no internal fans and relative large display areas).

I got a used netbook on ebay for ~$70. Its an eepc from what I remember, pretty durable little thing. Put a nice SSD in it and its pretty snappy.
There's *tons* of netbooks on ebay just look around. Mine had no hard drive but that's an easy fix. |

Cant say I have anything negative to say about my experiences using BrzEdit. Update works fine, and the program continues to be a reliable tuning solution for me. I do take my laptop everywhere, but it would be nice to be able to use un-encrypted maps now that im on e85 though.... (Always good to have an option if I ever get out of range from a supporting gas station)
