Plasti Dip Badges
Hi All
Picked up a can of black plasti dip (~$20 Autobarn) yesterday afternoon and decided to give my Toyota badges the once over on my 2013 mt fuji red 86. Ive never painted anything in my life and was quite skeptical about the results but im pleased to say that it was super easy and the finished product looks great. The plasti dip gives a nice even matte finish. Steps: 1. Cleaned the badge area with water and a chamois 2. Masked the area around the badge (newspaper and tape) 3. Sprayed 5 coats of plasti dip allowing 25-30 minutes drying time per coat. Each coat should be a nice even, wet layer. Spray consistently from left to right using the masking as your start/finish point. 4. After allowing the final coat to dry, peeled of masking and plasti dip around the badge. This comes away from the edges very easily. 5. Used a toothpick to remove the plasti dip from the inside areas (a little time consuming if youve got a shaky hand!) 6. Enjoy I also removed the rear "Toyota" badge giving it a much cleaner look. Im really happy with the results and if I can do it, anyone can. Its a simple mod that can be easily reversed. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Crouchy35 |

I've been in two minds, to remove the badge and dip it or do what you've done and do it on the car. As I've seen others have the plasti-dip stain the base colour of the car.
But I'm not sure how this happened or how it's possible. As it's just a coat the sits on top right? |

But there is a thread in another section where a guy did exactly what you did. Taped up and then sprayed his blue. Then took off and there was a clear square of blue around the badge where the paper wasn't. But yes others have had it stain after a long period of use. |

Nice work! I did the same thing recently. No staining on mine either.
