Eat cup noodles? Why does everyone think this is a cost effective way to eat? Why does anyone think this is a good idea?

If you have access to a kitchen of any sort, rice is about 50 cents a pound dry in the large bags. I.e. your calorie needs can be satisfied for under a quarter per day. Eating out easily doubles or triples your food cost.

A good diet is not simply rice every day. Ignoring the part wherein you would come to hate it simply because of how often you eat it, rice is deficient in nearly any form of nutrients (low fiber, low iron, 0 vitamin C, 0 vitamin A, hardly any potassium, the list goes on...). I'm not saying you have to eat meat (and I love meat), but there are a few additional things you would need to provide a more balanced diet. At the very least, Cup-o-Noodles has a smidgen of pea, carrot and/or corn in it.

OP, learn to shop for food on the cheap and don't expect to eat like a king, but a healthy diet can be had on the cheap. I understand what you mean by you car being a "medal", as I work hard and long to be able to afford it (I have 3 jobs). If I had to sell it because of financial hardship, I would totally feel like I was being shat on by the rest of the world. Problems are relative, I understand that.

But you need to know that even if I would feel terrible about it, sometimes you have to give up what makes you happy now so that you can be happier later. And this doesn't apply to simply objects you purchase, it goes with people too. Good luck with your education, make it priority number one, because if you don't then you might as well find a job to start building a career, otherwise you are going to see a whole hell of a lot more of this for the rest of your life.

I'm not saying you only eat rice, but regardless rice is arguably a better balance of nutrients than cup noodles. It is a nearly complete protein, has maybe 1 part protein per 10 parts starch. Cup noodles has a similar lack of vitamins and such, the 3 peas and 2 corn kernels and 3 flakes of carrot are equivalent to eating a blade of grass off someone's lawn, and the oil in it is highly refined for shelf life.

I think the question that needs to be asked here is: Why did you even purchase the car in the first place if you're strapped for cash? Why go for the instant gratification of a new car instead of the deferred gratification that would come from the benefits of having a good education/someplace to live/food to eat? THAT is the real issue here.

Connections is what counts (until you get a good amount experience)

I have had 2 jobs (of 8 total, and I'm only 25 years old) that I got without some kind of family/friend connection. Of those 2 only 1 would have been a potential career. The second was working in a supermarket, so you get the idea...

My career job I am at now was because of a family connection.

If you don't have some kind of connection it will be more difficult but not impossible.

Do ROTC and commit yourself for 5 or 8 years in the service, I forget how long. They pay your loans off and everything when you're done. From a junior enlisted prospective, officers get mad ass money. Looks good on a resume too I suppose.

Oh yeah, and guaranteed clothing, barracks, and chow.

All schools have them. Its called a library.

OP, try a Staffing/temp agency if you haven't already. Best of luck to you. I know its tough getting any job right now. Ive been looking for about a month and cant even get a call for retail because they are not hiring until early novemberish for the holidays. Part may be because i have a degree (class of 12) so they may figure Ill leave once i get a better offer, which i would.

I watched a documentary about an old high school teacher who started cooking meth with one of his old students. He seemed to make a good amount of money.
