Long story short, it seems like if there's enough reason to wipe a thread out completely, they'll do it. But that also means someone has to complain about it via flagging.

Unneeded/unnecessary, yes, but you can also just ignore them. Instead, you come out swinging by calling comments stupid and labeling people as immature...

But in all seriousness: yes it's frustrating to have issues with a car, but it's like buying any tangible asset in life: you have an expectation, sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't, and if you can't deal with it just sell it (for a loss if you have to) and move on to another car that will make you happy. You can buy a house, and have a disaster happen that will leave you with a fat mortgage and no asset (no insurance coverage), and you can complain on social media all you want with nothing solved.

Your continual insistence to push back on forum members will just make this worse, to be honest. You want to rant? Be prepared for some push back. This back and forth of "having the last word" just sours your experience more.

In any case, "a few dealers won't do shit" doesn't determine the root cause. If they're denying you service because of modifications, you can either 1) remove the mods to get work done, or 2) follow this step http://www.bipac.net/page.asp?conten...enied&g=semaga

Or 3) sell the car and get your IS250 that you want so badly.

They haven't denied anything because of mods? Not sure where you got that from. They told me straight up they didn't notice that there were any issues.

My apologies, someone else mentioned mods and you keep talking about money spent (sunk cost).

Doesn't change the basics though: you seem to have issues, dealers can't replicate, so they won't provide warranty service if there's no issues they can repeat.

You can find another dealer willing to help, or you can back up your case with evidence on your own. Or you can escalate this issue to corporate, or you can sell the car.

The ends and the means are the same. You choose your own adventure.

You shoulda seen the shitboxes I drove in college. They didn't make me miserable (but sometimes they made me late for class, lol).
Haha, in college I drove a Gremlin. Driving through a puddle would splash water under the distributor cap, stalling the engine. I'd then have to hot wire it to get it going again, usually right in the middle of traffic. But it was MY car. I loved it.

Reminds me of my college car. It was a 1964 Chevy II. When I drove in snow the slush would come off my own front tires and splash me in the face due to the holes in the floorboards.

Kids got it so good these days!

Don't get us wrong. A lot of us do sympathize with you. We are just trying to suggest ways out for you. You have said you do not want the car fixed. You just want it gone. If that is the case then you need to get rid of it while taking as little of a financial hit as possible. Then get back into a Lexus because that is really what you want.

Next time you take the car to the dealer I would suggest that you take the service manager for a ride. Point out the issues to him as your drive. I have done this in the past with good results.

I still think you should take the mods off the car until all the issues are resolved for the reasons I stated in my first response.

90% of college kids who "bought" this car.

Not implying it's OP, just throwing that out there.

Do a search. There have been a few trannys replaced under warranty for the same problems you are having. I just read it yesterday.

I have a 2001 Saturn SC1 I'll trade you for. Almost 300,000 miles, no rattles, new brakes, COLD A/C, 5 speed, black, small hole in drivers seatback, alloys, AM/FM/CD with great reception, new brakes, 37 mpg hwy, tinted, just passed emissions, 5-30 synthetic oil, manual trans fluid just changed, good tires, brand new headlights...what more could you ask for? (I'd even wax it for you) sorry, no Opticoat...........

Oh, I see that you are posting in that thread too.

Either:
A. Get them to fix it
B. Elevate it to Scion
C. Sell that bitch and buy something else

Problem solved.

I think everything that's going to be said, has. Lets just let this die.

No new info has been presented since the 3rd page...

Good luck to the op and anyone else with similar issues.

The time wasted on this thread could have been put to better use once constructive advice was received. Try another dealer and if that doesn't bring positive results call corporate.
The chirp is bearable IMHO. It seems few have been eradicated. I asked my dealer and there's no service bulletin for Canada. To stop the chirp I can use zero ethanol 91 octane, but rarely do.
If dettonation cant be reproduced it isnt happening. Perhaps it takes quite a bit of abuse to start. Video it on your phone.
The tranny, if qualified opinions agree its faulty you should get it serviced.
Again, try another dealer. If 2 or 3 deny service call HO. If that fails get a shrink.d dont tell the dealer you want to dump the car for Lexus, stay comited to getting this resolved.
Students that spend tuition and book savings on a new car sometimes regret it. I did in the mid 80s. n.

I literally want to just say fuck it and get rid of the car, but I will lose a shit ton of money and it's not so easy for a college kid to do that. I don't think I will ever not buy a Lexus again. I was optimistic about this car that it was a cheap sports car. But that's just it. It's cheap. Cheaply made, cheaply taken care of, and cheaply fixed when problems arise. And I'm not sure I want to go through the hassle of lemon law because my car hasn't "been to the dealer enough" and it was purchased and licensed in a different state. I truly hope everyone else is happy with their car but I see why a lot of people are starting to sell; they don't want the issues. If my axle fails at 6,000 miles without any tracking, what does that mean for the entire car? I know it's mostly Subaru, but the fact that Toyota would put this car out as their own sickens me. Maybe I do just have a lemon. Maybe I am overreacting. But I'm sick of my car in particular, but I may be stuck with it for awhile. Why can't they come out with a new fuel pump after over a year of knowing about it? Do they not care? I hate taking my car to the dealer to tell them everything that's wrong, wait 8 hours, then be told they could not replicate ANYTHING. I have no fun driving this car anymore. And I can't believe I have to pay for something, with a warranty, that has so many problems that aren't being fixed. /rant
As far as fuel pumps go they did redesign it and its quite easy to get it replaced. I would know because I got it replaced today no problem. All it has to have is the crickets and they replace it. I also work at a toyota dealership about 2 hours away from you. If you want called 904-797-8800 and ask for gary. Say kyle sent you and he should be able to take car of your fuel pump at the very least. I hope you can get the rest resolved too. Ps. Please don't make me look like an ass who referred a crazed man haha.
