Is there a way to switch the bleeders without using a torch?
I have some 04 STI take offs that i want to try out. I thought King Tut said he didn't use a torch but i don't remember him saying what method he did use. Also if anyone has done the torch method do you have any after pictures? I would like to get an idea of how much browning one should expect. Thanks! |

I want to do this with the megan or hard race 5x114 hub conversion. shouldn't make a difference with the aftermarket hubs right?

Is this a hub conversion or a spacer wheel pattern conversion? If it is a spacer wheel pattern conversion it won't work and you will still need 5x100 rotors. If it is actually swapping out the entire hub to a 5x114 hub, then you will be good to go.

One trick to getting red locktite bolts out is to use a soldering iron and put the tip on/in the bolt head. Gets the bolt hot but not the surrounding area like a torch would

How many other people have done this conversion? I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on some '08 Brembos today; found a sweet deal!

So I'm gonna try Centric high-carbon rotors with this conversion. Didn't see the value in spending a thousand bucks on rotors when I could spend $282 with shipping for all four from Rock Auto. Granted I would've loved to have put DBA 5000 series two piece rotors on the car, but it just seemed silly. The calipers I'm buying are take-offs from a 2013 STi that was being made into a rally car, so they have just 300mi of use and brand new OEM pads, too. I'm also ordering Stoptech stainless lines. We'll see how it all works!
