I've noticed that on mine too. But it's getting switched out with the P&L catted front pipe which is 2.5 all the way thru and uses a gasket instead of a donut. I'm switching because I'm going catless on the header.

Anyway, doesnt seem like any shop is making a proper full 2.5" system, they're just letting people assume thats what they're getting. All about the $$$ I guess.
I'm pretty sure the are a few vendors that don't use a 2.2" insert at the midpipe/overpipe.

Sadly i just pulled off my stock catback to find my nameless frontpipe looks Exactly like that pic. I measured the ID at 2.25" (with calipers). It looks like there is enough room to cut off the pinch section just inside the flange face with a dremel from inside the pipe. The weld on the flange is on the forward side of the pipe.... bummer... will see how my speedfactory midpipe looks when it get here latter today then decide to cut or not

Hmm I have the Perrin Catback and a fa20 front pipe on the way. The perrin system does not use the gasket. Not sure if the fa20 pipe needs the donut gasket or not.

Yep we dremeled and ripped that sucker out of there. You can still use the donut gasget without that piece.

I had the neck down seciton removed from my nameless today. Also had them replace the bellmouth on the ft86speedfactory midpipe with a regular 2 bolt flange..... I didn't realize they weren't going to butt-weld the new pipe section on the midpipe till they had already slipped the new pipe over and welded it on... So, i had the guy run a bead on the inside of the flange and grind down the lip to make a smooth transition.....

Not sure why they did it that way after i explained exactly what i wanted and why, i even make a drawing for them to explain it all..

anyway... it's good enough i suppose.
