Shouldn't you be able to just use the lines for the interwarmer/tb anti-freeze lines for easy hook up?

If this really is the same as the earlier EJ oil coolers, then finding one at a junkyard for a few bucks is a possibility. I would rather go new myself with my BRZ, but in a few years this is easily a possibility for used FRS/BRZ's.

Then it should be pretty easy for someone to test whether or not this improves oil temps and what effect it has on coolant temps as well with the Torque app and a bluetooth OBDII adapter. |

I ordered the Cusco Oil Cooler kit, should arrive in the next few weeks, will install and post review + results.
![]() FYI I ordered the revised version. According to their site it also reduces engine coolant temps (WTF??) http://www.cusco.co.jp/products/etc-parts/86brz_mt.html |

I would be interesting in seeing the results. Cusco also bills this as an oil warmer as well, to bring the oil temp up faster along with the coolant temp.
The graph shows it lowering the peak oil temp from 259 degrees to 239 degrees which whille not an immense amount may be the margin of safety needed. The tests seem to have been done with the Sprintex supercharger installed. Anyone read Japanese? |

I think its more of a temperature "regulator" rather than cooler/heater. Heats up the oil quickly, but also keeps it cooler than boiling hot.
Win-win proposition? I'm going to try to get a parts diagram for the Forester DIT to see exactly where the coolant feed lines are coming from. |

This cooler works on the WRX, STI and the Forester turbo. Why wouldn't it works on the BRZ? The heats in the coolant helps the oil gets to temp faster, reduces engine wear and keep oil close to operating temp. Unless you are running some serious boosted application, or have money to spare on after market solution that sprung leaks and alter oil pressures then this is not for you.

I'm seriously going to make it a mission to get one of these oil coolers tomorrow from the junkyard...
I bet I can put it all together for under $50. |

Didn't find any at the Junkyard or Recyclers today...
However, I did do some research on the parts diagrams and such for the DIT engine and got the part number for the Oil Cooler: Part Number 21311AA170 - List Price $180, www.subaruparts.com has it for $143 Thats $100 LESS than the other turbo oil coolers NEW! And it includes the "spill tray" on top! |
