i try to stay between 5-10 over unless i'm delivering. if i'm on the highway while delivering, i may drive a little faster than that, depending on time/traffic

I usually go 70 but 85 around 3500 rpm sounds ok to me.

This is a small, high-revving engine, so it's barely working at 3500rpm. I cruise at 85mph all the time on the interstate, and my Outback is turning 4k at that speed (and I have 117k miles on it with no problems at all). I'm surprised you say other cars are only turning 2500 at that speed though - you must be used to fairly powerful sedans or something similar. Most cheaper/smaller cars will be at 3k+ at 80-85mph.

My (non-FRS) is geared pretty short and I routinely spin at 75% of max rpm during interstate travel. That would be like an FRS sitting at 5,600rpm all day. Ain't no thang.

That's nothing to worry about at all. When I had my S2000 cruising at highway speeds the engine would be doing 4500 rpm + (if going over 80 mph). If you ever want to know how short the gear ratios are in an S2000 cruise on the highway in your FRS in 5th gear instead of 6th. It's exactly like that.

Haha yeah I heard about your speed limits over there, kinda annoying to go on really long road trips with that speed.

Yeah I do that all the time, before the FRS I had a 6" lifted FJ Cruiser, so yeah haha.

What do you mean when the AC actually works?

We have speed cameras that are set to around 89 miles, if you see a flash then you're fined for around $250, guess it defeats the purpose of just going over the normal speed a bit, why not just a mile/kilo before the limit?

I don't see why people stress about constant high way driving/high mileage. It's not like your car is going to fall apart. Just keep up the maintenance and it'll be fine for years down the road.
Haha well that taught you a lesson I guess.

Not panic-ing about high mileage or high way driving, see in my Rangie and porsche cayenne, I get RPMs of 2-2.7k at around 87 miles, then I saw the FRS at 3.5k and I had the curiosity to ask whether it is fine to stay on a constant high RPM like that.

Yeah I noticed that. I've mentioned this before to another guy, my Range and Cayenne seem to be constant at 2-2.7k at 88 miles, was just curious to see 3.5k RPM at 88 miles on the FRS.

Holy mother of post quotes Batman!

The AC doesn't really blow cold unless the engine is being revved. There doesn't need to be much revving, but it does need the revs. As far as I know, all of the triplets are like this.

Porsche gears their SUVs high then - my Cayman is spinning about 3k at 75, and 3500 at 90ish.

LMAO.

Oh! I thought you meant that the A/C on highway speeds is not recommended for some reason haha.

Yeah I remember seeing it on my brother's gt3 and the RPM was high too but look at the red line on a porsche, 8k 9k? I'm sure the cayenne is around 2700 at 87 miles.

I know but sometimes you leave home late to work/college and then you have to speed coz you won't be on time if you drive all the way to there at that speed.

Sure, but by that same argument, the GT86 has a really high redline too (7400). The pre-991 GT3 isn't that much higher (8200? 8400? Somewhere in there IIRC). My Cayman's redline is only 7200, but it's revving nearly as high as the 86/brz is at highway speeds.
