Average speeds on the highway?

Hey guys,

I do a lot of highway driving, 3 days a week, around 90 miles a day. Our highway speeds in the UAE range from 73 miles to 88 miles being the maximum speed limit.

I drive at around 85-87 miles most of the time and the trip is around 50 minutes, the RPM is at around 3500-3700 range, is this ok? I mean in other cars that rpm seems to be high for highway cruising speeds. It always worries me that the RPM is too high and that the engine is working very hard rather than other cars which at 87 miles are at around 2,500 rpm with the engine barely heard and you get that feeling that "ok, the engine is cool and ain't working hard". I know the transmission has close-ratios and all that but the question is, is 3.5-3.7k rpm okay for constant 30 minutes let's say or should I go lower on speeds?

I drive at around 85. Just watch the cars that are way ahead of you. Also slow down when approaching on ramps and overpasses.

About the rpm, ya it stays revving, but that's when the A/C actually works.

Yes, you're fine. Maintaining speed like that means there's not much load on the engine compared to accelerating. So even though it's high RPMs relative to other cars, it's not hurting anything.

88mph? That would be the point where we see some "serious shit". ;) Our max posting here is 65 and you can get away with 6-7 over...10 is pushing it. Kinda like living under martial law in this state, lol. Here's what the state cops scoot around in these days...county cops have much better rides, lol.

I was passing a Semi at about 90mph along with a group of cars and didn't see the cop who was sitting on the side of the road. I nearly shat myself when he pulled out but as soon as he lit up a big SUV that was behind me i started to breath again. Sticking to ~5 over speed limit on the highway for now on lol

I don't see why people stress about constant high way driving/high mileage. It's not like your car is going to fall apart. Just keep up the maintenance and it'll be fine for years down the road.

Gotta say, 86 is my favorite speed. She seems to like it, so I'm not too worried about it causing any harm.

75+ is definitely the sweet spot for sixth.

No way. My cousin said Vtech doesn't even kick in until 110.

Speed limit is 65 here... I cruise at about 85-95 mph... doesn't matter what car I use, as long as I got my radar detector
