Wheels/tires too. It all adds up. 20 pounds from wheels/tires, 13 pounds from ds, 10 from flywheel and 4 from pulleys. Still have alot of weight from brakes to remove too.

It's normal and was completely expected. Everyone always wonders why OEMs don't usually have lightweight flywheels and driveshafts. NVH is a huge reason. I might play with different gear oil and such but I'm honestly quite happy with pentosin and the noise isn't a big deal to me.

My WRX had flywheels 6 and 10 lbs lighter than stock and never made noise. Now the NVH from the 3-puck unsprung clutch is a whole nother story.

It only happens at idle with the ac on. Just remove the ac, problem solved! Or you could probably mess with gear oils and/or increasing idle rpm. Mine rattles that bad because the combination of lightweight gear oil, flywheel, pulleys and stock idle. It really doesn't bother me but that's coming from a guy that likes the sound of straight cut gears.

Strange I hadn't heard anyone really point out or complain that the driveshaft itself "aluminum" made them concerned of the noise? Videos you posted of course it is tough to tell, but are you not liking it or living with it cause of good gains?

I went with CF DS, so hope there is no NVH or concerns, otherwise I'll have an expensive paperweight coming lol.

The driveshaft noise is minimal. The rattling is completely from the flywheel and was present long before I installed the driveshaft. The driveshaft amplifies the transmission noise already present on deceleration at around 2800-3200. Everyone's car has this noise whether you notice it or not. The CF shaft probably dampens the transmission noise a bit but if you listen for it, it's there. I like mechanical noises though, let's me know what the car is doing.

Ok so once say on highway at cruise speed, any additional or noticeable noise at all from the DS? I honestly thought that losing a bearing and contact point to the chassis would actually lesson any noise, guess I was wrong there on that thought lol.

No difference at all on the highway. Tire noise > exhaust > drivetrain.

I've had my flywheel/clutch setup for around 10,000 miles now. Had the transmission oil changed the same time and it's always sounded this way. After reading some of the particulate laden pentosin threads in the maintenance forum, I might try out a heavier gear oil sooner than later.
