Light weight flywheel and crank pulley?
 
I think a few people around here are running a light weight pulley and flywheel. Can anyone chime in and tell us how it is going? Any CL's or idle problems?

Both lightweight flywheel and pulley do and affect 2 different things

As long as the diameter is the same on the pullies are the same as factory and not smaller, there are no adverse affects. Its just less rotating mass which helps your pulley system move easier.

Lightweight flywheels can however have adverse affects depending on how low in weight you go. This will affect driveability whether its how much power it takes to get moving, how quick revs drop out of your powerband in between shifting, easier to stall and things of that nature. Its one of those things that the less weight isn't always for the better.
Too light will drastically change your driving style, increased chattering and make it easier to stall.

Cliff Notes: You can run both no problem...lightweight flywheels can have more negative affects if you go too low.

KronosPerformance- Do you think it is just a matter of time before someone puts in the research to find the optimal weight for the FRS? It seems most fly wheels I come across are 12lbs. I wonder how that would do?

no privacy is not a concern, but i rather discuss my findings with both the flywheel manufacture and perrin before releasing those information prematurely.

there were some interesting findings, and i am looking to see if there were any problem with prolong usage.

plus, i just installed them last night, i think its a common courtesy to let both perrin and the flywheel manufacture know the integration results of their product first.

ill post my experience tomorrow after a 200 mile drive test.

Sorry for the delay. There really isn't a "optimal" weight. Its whatever the driver thinks is best for them. Some want the absolute lowest because they prefer that driving style and want the instant RPM jump in power, some just drive to the local grocery store. Some people may not care at all and can adapt to the difference. It really just depends on the driving style and what you're looking to do with your car.

Also depends on what the weight of your factory flywheel is as well. That I'm not sure off hand what the weight is on these cars.

Well the stock flywheel, clutch and pressure plate assembly weights about 37lbs
