dont use glass cleaner on lexan or any other plastics. if it has ammonia in it. it will cause tiny little cracks every where

I'm very happy with the results! I still like the valenti leds but this will do until I can afford those (unless someone wants to buy these of me)

Has anyone tried buffing after wetsanding before the clear goes on? The wetsanding will still dull out the finish a bit, and I figured it would look better if you do a machine polish step after wetsanding before the clear goes on, then wetsanding/buffing the clear.

Also, how long are you all typically waiting between coats? I'm thinking 2 hours should be good.

I wetsanded between the red if I needed it, but i think i only did on the second to last coat. Then applied my final coat of red, then applied the clear. Did not wetsand the clear, only two small spots that I accidentally ran the clear.

Great, thanks! How many coats of clear did you use? Looks freaking gorgeous. Could never tell it wasn't OEM

Thanks man! Everyone who sees them in person thinks they are oem, and don't believe me that I painted them lol.

I used like 3-4. The Spraymax only offers 24 hours of usage after opening, so I applied a crapload because it was going to go to waste haha.

How's the success rate on wrapping these? I'm going to get it done professionally but even so that fin thing looks truly difficult to get perfect.

I tried it and it didn't work out. But I've never wrapped anything in vinyl before and I'm not really good at detail work anyway, but I did manage to do a pretty decent job on my dash trim. The fin part wasn't really a problem.

Here's what I used:

Duplicolor Metalcast (2 cans used)
4 medium coats (45-1 hr in between)
light wetsand (2000 grit)
1 medium/light coat

Do not be alarmed when your lights look like this after the red coats...

Rustoleum 2x Clear (2 cans used)
4 medium coats (45-1 hr in between)
light wetsand 2000 grit and polish/buff
1 medium coat
light wetsand (2000 grit) and machine polish w/ abrasive polish

After the final coat of Clear:

I'm pretty happy with the final result - still a little bit of orange peel in the paint/clear which you really can't see unless you look at the lens surface from the side, and may end up doing a few more coats of clear at a later time, followed by some more and heavier wetsanding, but overall I think they look good, but most importantly, better than stock.

reflection in the tail lights are just clouds:

I'm tempted to mail mine to you and pay you to make them look like yours. hahaha But, I do like doing SOME projects myself, so I think I might tackle this myself. Maybe try to run to the store this weekend to pick up the supplies you listed. Thanks for this pic!
