It was hell paying it off. Taught me a lot about interest and how it adds up. I learned the hard way so thought I would give him my 2¢ on it. Now if I cant pay cash for it or be able to pay it off in less then a year, I don't have to have it. I have some friends that are leveraged to the hilt, because they have to have latest toy or gadget and basicly just make interest payments. I could never live that way. OP sorry for going ot.

As long as debt is manageable and you're not underwater on any of your loans (whether it's a house or a car) then you should be fine and it helps build your credit. Being so far in debt that you can only afford to pay the interest payments means you're already in big trouble.

Why? Properly driven, you shouldn't ever be out of your powerband.

Agreed but I still think give both cars to a skilled driver and around a track the SI will take it. The Camry regardless of power is a creation of new age Toyota soulless, comfortable and senoir friendly. I can't say for sure but given that the Si was design for boy racers in mind and the Camry being a family car the focus points are completely different.

The engine can keep up but can the chasis?

Tho once again this is all theory I don't own a new Camry and the last one I was in was a 1994 four banger

Would be an interesting comparison, if the tires were equalized and both cars had race pads on, and otherwise stock. I honestly don't know which car I'd put my money on.

To get back on topic, the 370z stock for stock will eat a FRS/BRZ. Again, if you equalize the tires, the FRS may have a chance on an EXTREMELY tight track, but nothing I can think of in SoCal besides HTM. Even at SoWS, the power advantage of the Z is too much to overcome. Until the Z overheats that is

The power in the VQ I think will be too hard to overcome.
Maybe a TRD or STI version, would be a closer comparison.

if i was looking into buying a 370z i would not be cross shopping a FRS and vice versa....unless i am looking into a USED 370z...then it would be more of a question of if i wanted a new or used car.

In my bolt-on/tune/suspension RSX-S at summit point I was keeping up with a 350Z and stock Evo X on all but the main straight of the main course. Both drivers had more track days than me, and I would pull on the Z in through corners, and not lose any ground to the Evo. Summit Point is not exactly a handling track either, with 3 triple digit sections, and only one real low speed technical section

Granted on a RSX, bolt-ons and a tune push you to 200WHP, but it wasn't like they dusted me on the main straight. When I did a session and started 1 car ahead of the 350, he never caught up soon enough on the main straight to necessitate a pass either.

For comparison sake, we all had Hankook RS-3/Kumho-XS level tires on the cars, and brake pads good enough to handle 4x30 minute HPDE sessions.

I would suspect that you're a better driver, as a RSX-S shouldn't be competitive with a newer 350z/Evo-X The older Z's are... slow.

An EVO has zero excuse for cornering slower than a RSX-S; you may apex faster, but he'll be powering out of the turn like no other, esp with equalized tires. I'd suspect the Evo and Z probably had fatter tires too. EVO-X turns disgustingly well for how heavy it is.

That's more than likely. While it was one of my first track days, I'd been auto-Xing for 4 years prior and have a good idea of how my car handles. Once I learned the line, my exit speeds were higher than them and due to my car's weight compared to theirs, I was braking later into the corners too.

For comparison, this guy drives a Honda Challenge S2k with hoosiers and is apparently pretty good.
http://robrobinette.com/S2000SummitPointLap.htm

Specifically based on turn 10, because that is the only point coming onto the main straight that I can really check my speedo, I was averaging 93mph exit speed, hitting as high as 95 but not consistently, which is only 4-6mph off him. My turn 1 entry speed is similar as well

I probably would have beat a 370Z, but that's because he would have had to pit after 5 laps so his engine didn't get blowed up

a brand new 370z in canada will set you back around 50K after all said and done.

I think overall the 370z is a much more capable car, but it's priced on another level (would definetly get it over a Porsche or something)

IMO, a FR-S worth $35,000 (with $8,000-9,000 in mods) > $35,000 Z w/ sport package.
My 370z makes 339whp with just tune and boltons. Good for low 12s no problem

Wow, what was your base/stock dyno before you started with the mods? That VQ is usually around 270-290whp stock, isn't it?

what makes the scion not susceptible to the same kind of price hikes in canada?
