Z370 is a gas guzzler to me. If FRS's highway mpg number is below 30mpg, I will be hesitant to buy one.

The gear ratios shouldn't be dropping it to 2000 or 3000 RPM where you aren't making much power thanks to the low RPM and low torque.
Oh I understand what you mean but even though a Camry doesn't rev to 7,500 rpms it can still run 0-60 in 5.8 seconds and the 1/4 mile in 14.6 seconds. If the torque was much lower on the Camry those numbers mentioned would've never happened and end up being worse. The Camry V6 is actually quicker than any Civic Si also and this is with a power sapping automatic tranny also.

Moto was saying the FR-S gets around 34MPG which is pretty solid considering I doubt that was with babying the car

In a straigth line yes but I highly doubt so on the track or under any kind of spirited driving that involes curves and corners. The weight will feel obvious and the need for low end tq will make sense.

Personally, I like the Z but I'd rather have a new FR-S with no gremlins, possible service issues, or abuse that the used Z may have.
Seriously take this advice. When I was 19 I ran up about 60k in debt while in college and with credit cards and car/play toy loans. I am now 38 and I am fully debit free. It is the most amazing feeling. New cars are great, but seriously consider a cheap reliable beater car while in college. Do you really want your drunk friend your giving a ride home puking in your new car? Lol, trust me it will happen. Good luck with whatever you end up doing.

Follow your own advice kiddo...
May you please make your explanation clearer to me, I'm confused?

Thanks for that explanation, but I never exactly said I wanted the 370 over the FRS. I was really talking about the average joe who walks into a dealership and wants an affordable fast car. They could purchase new BRZ or a slightly used 370z. Which has more horsepower and a "slightly" better interior. Also my college is going to be paid by my mothers insurance. That's if I get accepted to a considerable 'cheap' college. University of Akron and University of Cincinnati have excellent engineering programs. I've already got accepted to UA but I'll apply first half of my senior year for UC. And they are able to be payed for entirely. But thanks for the advice.:happy0180:

Alright, only because you've posted this three or four times now, what exactly do you mean that your mom's insurance is paying for your college? Either I'm completely out of the loop and you can now purchase college insurance, or you've got something seriously confused.

Ok, I'm not really sure. But it's something on my mom's life insurance policy that will pay for my tuition. I get the money at 18 and I use it to pay for college, I'm not exactly sure I'll ask her. Maybe it could have something to do with the death of my father and entitled to money from the life insurance company?? I'll get back you when I ask her. And you're right, I am confused but my tuition is being payed for.

60k? Holy crap man! Congrats on wiping that out.. I bet that wasn't easy. The worst I ever was (and this is including a new car loan and student loans) was about 23k and that was rough enough.

It depends on the needs of the buyer. People care about price but they car about buying a car that meets their needs more. The Z and FRS meet two difference groups of needs IMO.

Probably his life insurance. There is probably a clause that says you have to be 18 to get the money, she's just correctly making sure you use it for a good purpose. And sorry to hear about your father

Okay that makes much more sense. The way you kept saying it sounded like her auto insurance or health insurance was paying for your tuition somehow. Sorry to hear about your dad.

Nissan should make a little brother of 370z. Same body with less options and a 2.0l turbo engine for $24000.

That would be a cool idea but not a Z. Maybe bring back the 240 after over 10 years of rumors hopefully if they see the AS1 doing well they'll push forward with the plan.
