Just drove my car around the block. Difinitly accelerate better. Mostly in 1-3 the gears are shorter than before. My guess, is gears became like MT from 1-3. Need to drive it on the high way to test 4-6 gears. I am very satisfied with this change.

The parts catalog for the ZN6 that includes the North American FR-S is not exclusively for the FR-S, it includes some GT-86 models as well.

It has things listed like auto-leveling HID headlights, factory rear spoilers, Toyota emblems, etc. all listed in the catalog even though none of those parts apply specifically to the FR-S.

There are various grade levels in the FR-S catalog (ZN6 Catalog No. 264410), BASE and HIGH are GT86 models, STD is the FR-S and LIMD is the FR-S 10-Series.

Knowing how to read the catalogs is important if you're going to try to use them.

41110-18020 and 18021 are the 4.10:1 with Torsen LSD
41110-30A02 and 30A03 are the 4.10:1 with preload non-LSD
41110-53203 and 53204 are the 3.73:1 with preload non-LSD

The non-LSD models actually have a preload mechanism to provide a small amount of limited slip at low speeds. Toyota/Lexus usually refer to these as Semi-LSD. They are not used on any North American FR-S models.

EDIT: If you're looking for complete pumpkins that will bolt-in complete for the FR-S, here's a list of part numbers if you're interested, these are all the newest change-up part numbers:

41110-53163 - 3.58:1 Open
41110-53192 - 3.58:1 Semi-LSD
41110-53143 - 3.58:1 Torsen LSD
41110-3A144 - 3.73:1 Open
41110-53204 - 3.73:1 Semi-LSD
41110-53151 - 3.73:1 Torsen LSD
41110-30863 - 3.91:1 Open
41110-53224 - 3.91:1 Semi-LSD
41110-53102 - 3.91:1 Torsen LSD
41110-30A03 - 4.10:1 Semi-LSD
41110-18021 - 4.10:1 Torsen LSD

Alright I'm back. The car performed beautifully through the mountain passes at high speeds. Nothing too irresponsible but I did scare the girlfriend a couple times.

Now for business: Half my install parts and my gear oil (went with Redline 75w90) are here! The rest should be here by the end of the week. I'll be placing an order with Spence tomorrow after I finally nail down exactly what ratio I want; I need to play with the calculator some more.

Torn between 4.88's and 5.29's here as well. Definitely comment on your impressions after you decide. I'm pretty comfortable turning 3000 rpm on the highway

Judging purely by the math, the 4.88 gets my vote without hesitation.

In general any Toyota part with a letter in the number is North American sourced part. So those without a letter are Japanese sourced.

Your speeds at 3000 rpm are a couple mph too high. The calculator "computes" the nominal wheel/tire diameter.

OEM Michelin Primacy tire diameter = 23.896"

Plug in the above number to compute more accurate speeds for a given rpm.

For any tire the actual rolling diameter will be less because the car squishes the tire down, which makes it effectively smaller in diameter. Go to the manufacturer's website and/or Tire Rack and check the tire specs. You want the revolutions per mile, which for the OEM Primacy tire = 844. From that you can compute the rolling diameter, which will be a lot closer to reality when it's mounted on your car.

63,360/844/pi=23.89589"

π=3.14159

I think I've completely decided on 4.88. It essentially makes the A/T in gears 1-3 the same as the M/T with a 4.67 (thanks @37), and allows for cruising on the freeway (~65 mph) at 2500 rpm.

I'll be placing my order tomorrow. Thanks again for all of the great information guys! Updates will come when I have everything together and schedule with the diff shop.

Second the thanks to 37, sad I can only hit the button once. :P I had a gear calculator, but it's slick being able to do the side by side graphs.

Also I know it's been answered in one of these threads, but I'm OCD and just wanted to reaffirm from the people who've already gotten this installed: No issues with speedo or anything else? Or will this alteration require a tweak in the map?

Sure thing. I hope the 4.88 works and am curious to see how things turn out. The math is definitely there. Hopefully your results match.

np. The speedo works off of a wheel speed sensor and isn't affected by the final drive. Mine didn't change at all. I confirmed speeds before and after using GPS as I too was concerned they might change. Nope!

I placed an order with Spence today for the 4.88 ring and pinion. He wasn't sure if he had it on the shelf, but could get it in a couple days if not. I also bought his shim kit because it was only $15 and takes another aspect of uncertainty out of the equation.

I should have the rest of my installation bits by Friday, and I'm guessing the ring and pinion will be here sometime next week, so hopefully I can really get the project started soon!
