Quick question. How's the Subaru factory oil? Any good?

8100 if you want an API certified oil that the dealer can't give you any grief for using. It should be more than fine for most applications and good for a 7,500 mile interval.

Use 300V if you're like me and don't care about owner's manual recommendations of using an API SM or SN oil, do a bit of track time (HPDE type, not auto-x), want more ester base stocks, want lots of moly and ZDDP in your oil, and want to run one of the coolest oils in the world. Warranty schmarranty. Yes, 0W-20 for either one. Or if you just can't make up your mind, become an oil mixologist and run a combination of both!

The Subaru oil from the factory or the Subaru oil sold at dealerships? They're both good and the first page of this thread has uoa's on the Subaru oil.

My warranty has been long gone so it looks like 300V is the choice for me

3 year or 36,000 miles for bumper to bumper. So mine is gone, almost made it to 36k in one year.

Driveline is like 5 year or 60k miles.

Another oil change down and everything still looks the same. So the stock oil and stock filter have been working well for over 45,000 miles and a wee bit of hooning.

I may be switching to a different oil though since this last change cost $10 more then expected. I think either our local club discount wasn't applied or maybe Subaru jacked the price? No investigation has been done yet.

Here is my UOA from my BRZ @ 1078 miles. I changed early to get fresh oil before winter storage in good ol' Wisconsin.

pushing the go pedal tends to make a larger effect.

I've been consistently in the 31-33 range mainly because I drive 100 highway miles a day. I have noticed after oil changes the car likes clean oil, just feels a bit happy.

Sending in another sample today, don't really expect any changes at this point.

On another note, my gas mileage plummeted for winter this year. I'm averaging 27 on highway! Old spark plugs, snow tires and winter weather adds up I guess...
