Total time to install, alone, with photographs: 2 hours 12 minutes. I'm going to start the car in about 10 minutes after replenishing electrolytes!

One thing I've yet to see mentioned is that aside from how well this thing works, it happens to look fantastic in the engine bay as well

The first drive I took felt awesome. I've got to get ready for evening events now which will involve some freeway driving, so I'll post more later.

A couple notes:
  • I used the stock tune
  • Even waiting until 4k RPM before punching it, I threw a CEL at 5k RPM on the first try
  • I repeatedly chirped the tires on my 2-3 shifts... that's never happened before
  • It felt like a new car!
  • Rob's done something amazing

The cel at 4k, are you guys running the 3bar sensor or the stock 1.5? Just a random question.

@Adeets : It's the stock 1.5bar sensor.

Something that's been kicking around for a while is to limit the voltage on the existing sensor so that the engine doesn't read an over-pressure condition.

Theoretically that should be doable as an analog clamp using a zener diode and a properly-sized resistor.

I don't know what the correct voltages are, but if we assume that the max MAP voltage we want to see is 3.8V, but under compression we sometimes exceed it, then using a 1N4730A diode with a 4.7kΩ resistor would clamp the voltage to 3.79V.

With that circuit [link to CircuitLab for playing], response is ideally linear until about 3.7V, when it levels off.

So a few questions:
  • Does anyone know where we could get matching wiring harnesses for the MAP sensor? We'd want one female and one male
  • Does anyone have handy what voltage would equal 1.00-1.05 BAR on the stock MAP sensor?
  • What could go horribly, horribly wrong?

If you are tripping the sensor then you are certainly making some good boost. Mine would never flip above 5k. Mostly when I went wot at 3 to 4k in 3rd or above.

My friends supercharged NSX has a voltage clamp on the MAP sensor activated by a boost switch. As soon as the manifold reads positive pressure, the switch trips and only allows a certain max voltage to be fed to the ECU.
I would say go for it! DIY map voltage clamps are not unheard of and people usually use a diode/pot to dial them in

Tuning is done. Bob and Bill from drift office will provide the review. Ecutek owners you are now tuned.

Bill and Bob I cannot say thank you enough for the time and effort spent with the ESC today. I learned so much and appreciated the frankness of the discussion. Btw the drive home was amazing and the tune met all my expectations. I look forward to coming up again to work with a class act pair of tuners like yourselves.

Look forward to seeing your thoughs in the coming days.
