I love riding motorcycles, but with the blue hairs in the winter and tourists in the summer it's just not worth the risk here.

I love the ae86 in the last 2 years it has easily become one of my all time favorite cars.Watching all those awesome Best Motoring video and Initial D kinda helped haha. I dig how pure they are. If i could i would trade my car for one in an instant(Not sure if anyone would trade their ae86 for a geo prizm haha)

As far as motorcycles go i love them! I just started riding last year, i bought a 94 yamaha fzr600r, probably not the best idea but for the low budget i had it was the best i could do. Most people around the area were selling the ninja 250 for prices that was just too high or they were just pure junk. i know what 600's can do, im not even trying to pull off high speed runs or any of that nonsense screw that. Actually i wouldn't mind trading my bike for a ninja 250.

The AE86 is a fantastic car, Its a great first tuner car, simple to learn on, not too much power that you'd get yourself hurt, Fun to drive. It also makes you a great mechanic because You'll be fixing something atleast every other weekend.

Also riding that 4AGE to red line is something you cant describe.

Trust me I'd know, I've owned several

But the AE86 stood for more then that, every 86 meet I've attended was a tight knit group of guys who were legit, and were truely passionate about the car, not ricers or gang bangers. Maybe thats just because the AE86 was so old or because their hard to find but its a great community.

I'm looking forward to the FR-S to carry on my passion for cars.

If the FR-S carry's the same spirt as the AE86, I'll be proud to park her next to my AE86.

Unless you do some serious engine work/swap the car is really pretty slow. Fun to drive yes but not a quick car, comparable to a first gen miata. I've had 2 AE86s, one didn't keep long (rusty) the other I actually did quite a bit of bolt ons. Sold it to a kid who loves Initial D.

Here was my silver one.

Hanzo that is one clean ae86. And another reason i would like to own an ae86 is to get to know cars a whole lot better. Getting in there and really getting your hands dirty. Taking things apart and rebuilding them.

I really want to own an Ae86 one day! It's been a dream of mine for a while now. Every time i see one in town i just stare in amazement. I especially the ones that they feature on speedhunters. If you haven't seen them you gotta check them out!! http://speedhunters.com/archive/tags...px?PageIndex=1

Is that your MR2 Spyder, Hanzo? If so, out of curiosity, how would you compare the driving experience between that and the AE86? I love the idea of the MR2 Spyders, but have never really heard anyone call it a "driver's car" or give it nearly as much credit as the MKI and MKII MR-2s (despite it being significantly lighter than both).

That's my brother's car and yes I've driven it many times. Not sure if you've driven a Lotus Elise but it feels like a tone down civilized version of the Elise. Handles very well, you can really feel the mid engine layout and it's so light on it's feet. Steering is somewhat over boosted so very darty. If it didn't have engine issues I would have one in my driveway. Compared to the 86 it's much quicker to change direction and off the line. It's however not very driftable compared to the 86. Not that I drift but you can feel it when driving the 2 back to back.

Thanks a lot for the input! It is unfortunate that they are so rare where I live, but up here, everyone prefers an SUV or a late 80s/early 90s truck or Jeep with 5 grand spent on lifting, function be damned...And if you dare call any car a sports car, or even fast, that isn't a Mustang or a Grand Prix GTP, you might even end up in a fist fight...

A bad choice in engines 1ZZ (I think stock is 140hp) should of used a 2ZZ

2200 pounds with 140hp isnt bad but not enough the 2zz would of gave the car 180hp and it would of been a screamer

Plus the cost was pretty crazy if I remember correctly. Driven one very briefly but I must say the thing handles like a dream

The mr-s is a very under-rated car, and with the right mods is a beast. Hell, even a simple body kit can completely change people's opinion of it.

The problem with the MRS was the pre-cat design on the 1ZZ was bad from the start and they never fixed it. My brother's had pre-cat failure. It was replaced under warranty but the engine was shot. It burned 1 quart of oil very 3K miles and spewed out black smoke under heavy acceleration. It's a shame because the car was great fun.

Mine

2000 MR-S, 62K. Does not burn a drop of oil. Handles like a go-kart.

Did you gut the cats or got an aftermarket header? If you haven't done either you probably want to do it.
