The true meaning behind the 86/Frs
A little about myself. Im a 20 year old college student who's been into cars for about 10 years. I for one am very excited to see the release of the 86 here in the Usa. Yes i know its coming here as the Scion Frs but that's nothing a simple rebadging couldnt fix. Toyota could have simply decided not to bring the 86 to the usa at all. It bothers me that there is so much hate for such an amazing car. A ture and pure sportscars for us to enjoy.
This car is not suppose to be a Ferrari killer for $25k or an Evo killer. Its suppose to be as pure of a sportscar as they can legally allow it to be so that we can drive the living hell outta it. Its suppose to be an experience where driver and the car can become one entity and the driver can learn and grow with the car. Light agile affordable and fuel efficient. This sounds like something familiar. Sounds like the great Ae86. It gives people like me who missed out on the ae86 or who haven't had the opportunity of owning one, a great chance of experiencing the ae86 in a modern package. I for one am very pleased with this awesome opportunity that Toyota is presenting to us. They could have simply just neglected this project and never developed it, but they didn't. Tetsuya Tada and his team creating something that the car world hasn't had in years and has been desperately needing. I can't wait to get behind the wheel of the Frs! |
i totally agree

Been a while...
I'm glad that a company has finally decided that there is a market for fun car to toss around that looks good without breaking the bank completely. The market for my particular tastes/requirements has effectively died. The Frs is the closest car at the moment I could see myself buying when I eventually decide to retire the XRS.

I'm 26 and I've been looking forward to this car and for years, literally. I've been car shopping for a year and this has been at the top of my list, I refuse to buy a car until I test drive this FR-S. That being said, recently the black edition BRZ really struck my fancy too.
Lastly, if you want a true experience with a vehicle, take up motorcycling. |

Nothing gets you closer to death than 2 wheels ;)
lol I haven't ridden a motorcycle before, but I've almost died many times just biking for 5 years. |

I'm not really concerned about crashing myself, it's just that drivers can be such dumbasses...and if something does happen, as my grandpa says it's not steel around your flesh, it's flesh around steel (poor translation) :P I like the idea of a motorbike though, it's very minimalist. Too bad the road is full of SUVs whose drivers can't even see you.

Yeah, I love riding my motorcycle. I took a state Highway Patrol safety training course before I got the motorcycle endorsement on my license. I have a 2006 Ninja 250R. Was my first bike, so I decided to get something small and easy to ride. :)

While there are some undertones of fanboyish (which is fine) you are still one of the newer member I actually like.
No whining about turbos No whining about AWD No whining about boxer engine No whining about push start So far so good I will say tho that I was about ready to buy a Gen Coupe R until I saw how much power it was making  not worth it with how heavy it was and now the new GC has power that kinda makes up for the weight but got ugly... that front :barf: I will be taking motocycling school hopefully soon |
