I really hope they give this the green light. Double wishbone suspension, RWD, around 2000 pounds. Sounds like fun. Not to mention that if they use the same 1.5 thats in the yaris there is a good amount of aftermarket support for that engine.

Hah I was wondering the same thing.

"What second page... liar! Oh.. shit my bad!"

I'm surprised they chose to go RWD with such a small car, I'm loving it though! Double wishbone rear suspension FTW, 2000lbs (my Kia was a little heavier) and 100hp (my Kia was less powerful). I could light the tires on my Kia no problem and make it move, so this should be incredible haha!

Looks like a riced-out wide-body Echo. But the idea reminds me of the Renault Clio V6 where they took a fwd platform, threw the drivetrain in the the rear seat space to make it mid-engine rwd, and turned it into a performance car.

First things first, though. Get the the FT/R-86/S done and out. Then this car. Then the new Supra (so I have time to save up enough to pay cash for the first one in my city).

This article still claims that the FT-86 is delayed until 2013 so it lost all credibility with me. I thought toyota said the FR-S was on schedule for a NOV 2011 release date. Motor Trend is full of ish again.

Some details don't make sense, either.

The article said its engine is transversely mounted. This would make sense for a mid-engine RWD, but the concept's plate says FR, JDM-speak for Front engine Rear drive, which is usually with the engine longitudinally mounted. Then they are saying they want double wish-bone rear suspension but may have to settle for a rigid axle because the parts have to be from pre-existing ones. So which Toyota compact car is RWD with a solid axle? Or would it come from a truck?

And who but Mustang owners and die-hard, old-school AE86 owners would buy a sports car with an archaic solid axle, anyways?
