I thought I did, but it's questionable, so I'd rather not give you wrong information. I'm not sure if the dealer understood my question sadly

Interesting. I was told they couldn't tell. Might have to try another dealer. You already had it or did they update you? Thanks for responding.

Does anyone have access to Toyota parts directory to see if any part numbers on the engine changed around this date ?

Part numbers and engineering codes are usually separate. The former would typically stay the same, whatever the cal.

I don't know how OEM's do things in England but any change to a part requires a part number change at a well run Lean OEM like Toyota. If there has been a part number change it may provide a clue why Toyota isn't offering this calib. to early adopters.

A place like Lotus yea I can see them still using engineering codes but we all know where they are headed.

You are a silly sausage, don't let your hate of everything outside of the United States affect your judgement. Parts have BOTH part numbers and engineering codes. The latter is usually stamped on the part somewhere, and typically includes the year of design.

I haven't bought a big three car in 25 years. In 2013 a part can't change design without a part number change, stampings can change with suppliers. Are you suggesting Toyota may have had a problem with one of their castings suppliers?

You're wrong, and your last sentence is just nonsense. I give up! You're a lost cause!
