The yellows get great reviews but they seem to be quite harsher then stock set up.

Ideal set up would be Koni shocks and yellows (or other springs) if your worried about OEM shocks.

The average for your lowering your car with springs on stock shocks is about a year or so of aggressive/spirited driving intill you'll start to feel a loss in responsiveness, IMO.
I wouldn't say that the RCE yellows make things quite harsher, and many others agree with my biased opinion . It's actually very close to stock or better IMO in most situations, with a slight tradeoff on really large bumps.

Many have had our springs on for more than a year now FYI. Subaru gave us a prepoduction car very early and we were able to do quite a bit of testing, plus Myles bought one of the first BRZs in the area. Lots of time testing and trying things. Stock shocks are pretty good...not amazing and not Konis, but also not horrible weak little things. Just keep the springs close to critically damped and don't slam it on the bumpstops and they'll last.

That said, there is much to gain performance-wise from Konis or possible other options that may come out in the future. They'll also let you go with firmer spring rates with less of a penalty in ride quality. And they'll likely last longer.

I currently have the RCE Yellows and previously other brands and rode in other cars with other brands. The RCE Yellows are the best performing in my opinion and feel more comfortable than stock. The only downside, which to some it's not a downside, is that they don't lower the car enough. Function > form is my mantra however, so RCE Yellows FTW! Yes adding the Koni Yellows will make it even better. I know first hand as I have them. See my build thread for info on my daily driven impressions. Track day coming next month.

We just released a new spring called the TARMAC spring with higher rates for the Koni's and a lower drop of about 1inch.

Sportlines are compatible, but a few members have had bad experiences with them and stock struts I'm told. The drop is pretty aggressive. Just something to be cognicent of.

The Swift springs are designed for OEM dampers as well, and have different rates for the FR-S and BRZ.

Wishingful thinking here, but are there any springs available with at least a 1" drop that are matched to the OEM shocks?

I'm almost a year into running on the RCEs on factory struts. Dozens of autocross days and 36K+ miles and my dampers still seem to be working fine.

I have the Hotchkis springs, which are exactly a 1" drop on the stock shocks. I have 5000 miles on them with no issues.

Sent from my Moto X.

RCE yellows have definitely got the reviews but I'm also going for a bit more cosmetic and would like at least a 1" drop.

i just installed my frs swift springs, and there's no issue with the bump stops etc. Perfectly fine with the stock struts. The drop looks to be around an inch and a half.
