Every driver on the road is not a douchebag. Signal your intent, keep calm, and resist the urge to beat your chest. Most drivers have a don't bring none - don't get none attitude. By that I mean that a lot of people can smell / sense your own road rage a mile away. Many people inadvertently project the very attitude they don't want. Life is not lived a quarter mile at a time (contrary to the fast and the furious). Stay classy and don't embarrass our cars.

Of course, when in doubt, pass them when they least expect it. No one expects a car coming out of an on-ramp at nearly double what most people take them at. Just kidding, we should probably stay classy there too .

Absolutely- when I feel calm, and drive calmly, I find that there are much fewer "morons" on the road.

Also, passing on an on ramp is usually unexpected because depending on the ramp's lane markings, it's illegal. Most of the highways by me here in the upper valley of NH/VT, the on ramps are single lane with a short merge. There isn't an opportunity for passing unless you want to take the gamble of rushing into the right hand lane on blind faith that nobody's coming.

Sorry, I should have been more specific. I have found that a lot of people see a sports car merging from an on-ramp to the highway and will stay in the far right lane and block me from merging ahead of them instead of courteously moving over or maintaining their speed to allow safe merging. To get around this douchebaggery I am already at highway speeds half way through the on-ramp before they usually know I am even there.

I realize my thread turned into a "Hey this is how I pass people on the road. How do YOU pass people on the road?" discussion.

ANYWAY

Read this today...

"I often tell anyone who'll listen that there are two kinds of car people: numbers people and experience people. For numbers people, data is everything, and a car that produces the highest or lowest numbers in the greatest number of categories is therefore the best. For experience people, it's all about how the car drives and how good it makes you feel behind the wheel. As they say, lap times only truly matter if they're putting food on your table."

At a red light even with the auto in full auto mode and me driving normally, when the light turns green, I tend to pull away from the cars in other lanes and cars behind me. It's funny when I had my old car which was manual and had a lot more torque and same power, I always felt like I had to work hard to keep up with traffic. It must be because when I drive normally, I shift slow and late where as the auto would shift faster than me and earlier (before the rpms plateau for my throttle position). Maybe some of you guys who find passing or keeping up with traffic challenging need to try an auto. I like mine a lot for both commuting and its ability to rev match on downshifts better than I can.

I also have this same feeling and while I've driven a lot of other cars / trucks with more torque and power, I think it's due to this car having a decent amount of torque at 2 - 3k rpm and lots of tightly spaced gears. You can power through low rpm gears and get up to speed quite quickly without the engine sounding like you're working it very hard at all.

Conversely, my GF's jeep has a VERY torque inline 6 in it and when you take off in any sort of expedient fashion, you certainly hear the extra strain on the motor.

I believe this is also a difference in personality types. Back in my mtg days there were always the spikes and the timmys. The spikes played to win and didnt care about anything else so their decks were usually made up of cards that synergized well and would constantly be called "cheap" by other timmys. Timmys on the other hand built decks that had a more consistant theme or were more fluffy/fun.

So I guess what Im saying is it all comes down to this - why are you buying a car? Do you want a car that feels nice and is more of a drivers car or do you want to win races at the local track meet? While you might not think this car should have more power there are others who are intent on building a car to win a competition. And no its not always about money either some people just want to compete for the fun of competing and building a car that is on a level playing field.

Different strokes I guess. I think its awesome that this car can potentially cater to either goal. The ft86 cup is a great example of this and its great to be apart of a community where you can compete for relatively cheap, or even if you have enough money to build a turbo monster.

Also excuse my nerdy trading card references lol.
