Visconti situation completely out of control

We all know what happened with the flex fuel kit, and the shit storm that has followed, but the legitimate threads for his tuning information has been infiltrated with off topic and sarcastic posts.

Can a moderator step in and clean it up? Frankly I don't understand how you guys let it get this bad. I've never seen a forum get out of hand like this, even when major failures occur. I don't think I'm out of line here, but if this idea is wrong I'd like to know why.

They closed the fire thread, rightfully so, and from what I've seen it has died down considerably. Forum members started commenting in his tune thread and have since stated that's not the place to do it.

Fact of the matter is that he has a lot of upset customers for one reason or another. I'd say 90% of his 86 platform customers found him on this forum. When customer service burns out and it's taking a month for customers to get updates to their tunes people get upset. Then something big happens and it all boils over. I hate to say it but I've seen this coming for a while now and I'm not surprised.

If customers found him here and receive updates on products and their tunes here then it makes sense that they're going to share their opinions here too. No one has personally threatened the guy (that I have seen) and many have every right to be upset and share their own personal experiences. Some have taken it too far but that's the interweb for you.

I think if John was concerned about saving face he would be on here doing damage control and working overtime to keep his customers happy...hiding out only infuriates already upset customers.

^ Pretty much agree, but the fire/fuel leak FF kit stuff should be done until updates get posted.

People should be free to bitch and moan about shitty tune service/long wait times in his other threads until he corrects it.

Its a frustrating situation for sure. Its a 2 man operation, as far as i know, and they are just WAAAAY over stretched. 2 people might be okay if they were JUST doing 86 stuff, or JUST GTR stuff but not 86's/GTRs/Z's and BMW's.

Fortunately i got my tune all dialed in before the shit hit the fan, but it still took some arm twisting to get it. I'm happy for the time being, but the customer service is pretty terrible.

I think the moderators are very fair when it comes to these kinds of posts. I've been on forums before where any time of vendor or a sponsor says anything negative they delete the posts immediately, Even if the criticism is well-deserved. As a consumer I prefer hearing the facts and ciphering through it myself to determine what is what. If the vendor is irresponsible and careless I think people should know about it before they end up with the consequences.
Bad news travels at the speed of light these days. Which is a good thing for some.

We are aware of the overflow, and we are doing what we can without stepping out of bounds on moderating these forums. We believe in the freedom for members to express their frustration and hate as long as it doesn't break our forum rules. We do not want to be police here, but facilitators of discussions good and bad, and we will moderate to the best of our ability. At the same time the responsibility falls under our members also to help the forum environment be clean and friendly regardless of the posters emotional state.

I agree 100% with this approach and you couldn't have said it better. I, for one, hope they keep it civil but a few have gotten out of control. Thanks for clearing this up!!

This was the exact reason why I made a thread in here weeks ago about "lack of moderation" in various threads... members were taking discussions way out of context and off topic, and even starting irrelevant threads in unrelated sections.

Contributes to an overall decline of quality.

Frankly to anyone reading the Visconti threads: if you don't have anything constructive to say, just stay out of it. Anyone posting "this situation sucks" and making off-hand comments about it should just not post.

I agree the issue is getting out of hand, but when these issues arise they need to be addressed offline. Visconti may not reply because if there is a lawsuit involved, the first thing they'd do is to not make public statements. No one sees that and takes the silence from the vendor as an admission of guilt.

If it was me and my car on fire, I'd make my post/thread after the issue is resolved, for better or worse.

Did you send the admin a PM and volunteer your time to become a mod? Did you report every post that you found offensive and/or off topic?

As an ex-mod of another site, they aren't omnipresent. It is just as important for the community to use the tools at hand to help the mods do their job. It's a thankless position, and mostly all they get for what they do is bitched at that they're not doing their job good enough, or that they're in bed with the vendors, etc.

I think the OP did what's best... if OP is not getting the fair customer treatment he deserves he should call the vendor out especially if they don't PM back, claims everything is "looking good" when it's not after a ticket was submitted, and continues to make business even with one's safety at risk. If the OP had not posted the issue for the community, more people might suffer what OP went through. When customer service is horribad like this I encourage everyone to speak up so I know who to avoid making business with.

I have been trying to report OT threads.

As for being a mod, I'm not trying to be one, but on this issue the site admin made it clear that he does have an issue with finding more people being mods as it is difficult to give more responsibility/power to people that aren't vetted in full.
