I don't believe that part that the adjuster said it was an oem part. That's not something an adjuster would say. Also, in this case it can't really be proven by an insurance company. Not with that much fire damage. Finding the start of the fire is impossible.
With that being said, they probably will or already have paid out because they also wouldn't be able to prove an aftermarket part caused the incident. In insurance we have a saying, if it's gray we pay.

The fuel pressure after the HPFP is around 10 times that of a normal EFI car. I wouldn't trust any after market clamp on any hose or line post HPFP. Direct Injection can be very dangerous, I have seen leaks at these pressures so small that they are invisible yet spewing gas in a highly combustible state.
Its like the old trick where a guy puts out his cigarette in a jar of gas, no fire. I've seen leaks on EFI that would scare anyone that were obviously there for months or years without a fire. But direct injection is an entirely different animal. If you ever have to work on it yourself don't deviate from the factory service manual, if it says replace 10 seals and fittings, do it. Don't believe anything you read on internet forums that say otherwise. A modification of the fuel supply post HPFP is risky. The right way to develop any modifications like these would be to dye your gas tank with UV dye. Run the engine in the dark and inspect with a good UV light. Do this more than once over the course of several weeks. Toyota/Subaru probably ran tests like this for 100k miles, checking every 1k when developing the DI system.

It my understanding that the functional pressure of the DI system installed on the FA20 is 1600psi. I'll see if I can find a source and confirm...

If it were something that is oem related and Subaru finds definitive evidence then they would be responsible for paying the insurance back given that they paid the claim.

If the insurance already paid - then probably not, which I understand is not the case. Subaru will investigate and say it was non-OEM fuel and (if they find it) aftermarket fueling. After that insurance is free to show the policyholder the finger.

No they are not. That's simply not how it works.
It doesn't matter if the car had A/M parts. It has to be proven they caused the fire. That can't be proven in this case. If the insurance company denies on something that wasn't solidly proven they can be sued for what's called bad faith. Now the aftermarket parts themselves will not be covered without additional coverage, but the car should be unless someone is able to show legitimate evidence that an aftermarket part caused the damages. I deal with claims all day everyday and hold am adjusters license in 16 states. Everything should be fine for the OP.

And that's the reason fire claims are often suspicious.

Indeed. They are always investigated more regardless.
