Compared to the tires that came on the model t, yeah they're an engineering marvel. But that's sorta like being the prettiest Denny's waitress.
Turanza are modern tires, they just aren't performance tires.

It's like saying a Honda Accord is a piece of shit because it isn't a sports car, this idea of logic is foolish.

Am I the only one who enjoys the fact that the stock tires have no grip, and understands that this isn't an accident on toyota's part?

Am I the only one who plans to replace my stock tires with equally low grip tires?

am I the only one who sidewayses???

Mine came with the Turanzas, and I absolutely love them. No grip ever for maximum slides. Drift at autox, drift at intersections, drift in your driveway, drift in the mcdonalds drive through, drift into trees, your options are endless!

But if you're the type who takes driving seriously then I can see why you may not like these.

Well aware of the intent of tires.

Not everyone is an asian drift champ.

Or lives in an area where that sort of thing is feasible. My roads dictate that a gripper tire is important.

Different strokes.

Quickly checking a few p zero models on tire rack I don't see below a 5.7 would I buy again. And several 7+.

The turanzas have a 2.1 currently.

I stand by my statement that when compared to their direct competition within segment or across segments by price the turanzas are shit.

I'm coming from a Camaro SS and we considered the stock PZeros crap (again, not that they are bad tires, but the car comes with 400 lbft of torque stock) and many would immediately upgrade to stickier rubber. Its all relative.

That said, even with my old RX7, I don't want to drift just from taking a corner just a little bit faster than usual. I want strong grip.

I understand why people like low rolling resistance and swinging the car around anywhere, but not my cup of tea. That said, there are MUCH better options than the Turanza for that kind of tire.

We were planning to get a new Mazda3 to replace my wife's '05 (145k miles, needed all new struts/shocks and A/C), but after test-driving a '13 model 3iGT, I just wasn't impressed with how the car drove. Just wasn't anything like as engaging or fun to drive as ours. We fixed up our '05 instead.

I have to think at least part of my disappointment in the new 3 was down to the oem Turanza EL 400-02 tires, the same model they put on the FR-S.

They are rated 21st out of 21 "standard touring" all-season tires (just about the lowliest category) at Tire Rack.

Life is too short to drive on crap tires. Especially when great tires are available for reasonable $$$.

The Turanzas came on my car and will be driven on until replacement is warranted. I've driven on worse over the years. They have adequate grip when I need it and will slip when I want them to. I'm not overly disappointed with them but will replace them with better when the time comes. I don't need to drive on snow or in rain unless I want to so that's not an issue. Not many new cars come with the best tires these days, especially in our price range, so this is nothing new.

Maybe they were just brand new and hadn't been scrubbed in yet. In my experience, even the fanciest performance tires are shit for the first couple days (on the street) / couple laps (on the track).

I was thinking even lower grip tires and ones that dont squeal, i tried to ask in the wheels and tires section but all that they talk about is wheels
