WRX is 2.5 million yen according to someone yesterday? It's 26k in the US.

Lol, if that's the case, I'll say 15k. Then they can break my heart when I see the MSRP is 19k. I guess I'd just have to bite the bullet and buy it, even it it would be a ripoff at that price

^^obviously sarcasm

A better refrence would be finiding a car sold in Japan and the states. Take the price it's sold in japan for in yen and make a comparison to get an estimate for USD

Isn't that what I just said above? Lol

Well... that depends. Are they trying to maintain a profit on selling a car? or are they just selling it at-cost for the US? Currently they're trying to drum up interest overall about the brand, no? Well, at least Toyota is, no idea for Subaru.

I think we had similar thread.

Fj cruiser in US starts around 27k, while 40k in Japan.

If we go with that rate of conversion, US price would be too low imo.

Don't bother with direct conversions. JDM Subaru BRZ has similar pricing, and in direct comparison to other Subaru models, the stripper is 2 million yen vs. 2.6 million yen for a stripped out WRX. The closest Impreza in pricing is a 2.0-liter n/a, which is about 19k here in the states vs. the 25k it is in Japan if you did a direct conversion.

So to sum it up, neither Subaru or Toyota is going to use a direct conversion of pricing for the cars. Based on my experience, you are better using a conversion rate of 100 yen to the dollar and going by that.

That said, I don't know if the stripped out version of the Toyota or Subaru will be available initially in the states. That 2 million price range gets you nothing - steelies, 15" brakes, none of the nicer interior trim, and in the case of the Toyota variant, unpainted front/rear bumpers. It's more likely the base model for the states/europe will based around the 2.4 million yen model with cloth seats, air conditioning, alloy wheels and such.

Paul Hansen

DBA code is on pretty much every car.

for the 2012 R35 it's DBA-R35-*****
the 07 one was CBA-R35-*****

So ZN6 is the official Chassis code for the 86

Ah~ never seen on Subaru cars so, much thanks. So I guess official Totoya chassis code is ZN6 & Subaru is ZC6... Currently ZC6 > ZN6 for the sound (cuz its close to my Impreza).

Hm... Now that put me on 50/50 on which ver I want Toyota..? Or Subaru..?
