Then your transmission is probably trouble free and you can sleep easy.

Do you mean like an actual grinding sound as if you didn't push the clutch in all the way or is this like a grinding feeling? Currently trying to check my car and see if I have this issue.

I get the 2nd gear "grind"...although its not much of a grind, its more of a roughness. I drive truck for a living so I can shift without the clutch. My frs shifts really smooth without the clutch when rev matching properly. Being a professional driver with years of experience driving trucks and cars I can say the frs transmission has something wrong with it. That roughness isn't normal at all.

I got the worst grind I've ever felt into 5th today at about 45mph, shifting normally. It pissed me off so much.

10 series two weeks in (500mi). Still babying it (shift below 4k rpm) but often felt the uneasy shift or grinding when shift quickly from 1st to 2nd, if not, occasionally, up- or downshifting to 2nd feels as resistant as there's a gate blocking the 2nd gear. I drive mostly on highway so not too many shiftings involved. I am still observing. Fingercrossed.

I get the 2nd gear grind a lot now and sometimes even in 3rd. Hoping when I install the forced fab trans mount it will help a bit. If not dealership is already getting a lengthy list.

Service advisor told me that this is not a common problem and first she ever heard of, then why is the transmission on backoreder if no one else is having transmission issue
Because she's not too bright and she hasn't had another FR-S come to her with an issue.

So is this a defect with the Aisin transmission? And it seems to me more subie people were able to get a transmission replaced without waiting for parts than than the toyota owners.

Give 2nd gear some time.. It will get better with miles.. Triple cone syncros are breaking in. I had the same issue.. Now with some miles, its almost non existent. I had this issues with my last few corvettes too.. Same feel as you described.. Only in 2nd gear.. And they all cleared up with some miles. Everything is overly tight.. Takes some miles for it to loosen up. The 4th gear high rpm shift sounds like a defect or some miss shifts perhaps.. But the 2nd gear "tightness" will get better and appears to be normal in many trans.
I too can shift wo the clutch when rpms and speed are synced.. Being doing this for years.. Feel the car.. It's a pretty sweet gear box.. Just needs some understanding and miles...

Problem is when you own a new car .... every time it grinds ... you feel a little bit of life is being sucked out of the transmission. Gears wearing prematurely. I hope everyone gets new transmissions. Those with the actual problems ... that is.

I've noticed a similar issues with mainly 3rd gear. I know 2nd is very picky for me but I think that is the design. Maybe with miles it will get better?... I just got to 6k so still not enough haha.

13k here, not sure if I just got used to it or not but I have zero complaints about my transmission, I'm sure I could dig up my post history and find me complaining about notchiness in certain gears. It isn't elegant, it's fast and precise, chuck it in gear and hammer down.
