That's only for the groupbuy. If you don't jump now, it'll be $65.

If everyone would calm their tits for just a second, how do we know the flex fuel kit wasn't installed without the hose clamp, like in the updated kit?

If that was the case the fuel line would have 0 chance of a leak. And if it did leak that would be on Accelerated Performance, not John. I'm just stating observations, not siding with anyone.

It would be on both. The kit itself was flawed, before the upgrade. This happened before any talk of upgrade was made. Both Don and John worked together in tuning/selling/modifying this car.

At the end of the day, ALL of this is speculation since the exact cause of fire is still unknown. It might very well be what you say is true. Who even knows if this car was testing the upgraded fuel kit?? Only Don'/John know. Hopefully the investigation founds a clear cause.

Time will tell.

The hose is fine, not degraded, and there is no printing on the outside braid. All normal.

There are several style of hose ends for this hose,

This is approximately what it looks like with one type of end installed
It's that weave that makes the end look frayed, then. That's what I was referring to. nm.

Like I said earlier in this thread, car video was posted July 17th, user stated the car was a total loss on July 23rd, John didn't have the "fix" ready until July 29th. Kits were originally released to us (you, CB, me, the rest of the group buy) around June 26th. If the hose fix was in operation, John sat on it from everyone else.

As to the ultimate fate of the OP's car, that's still up in the air - however based on what facts are present, it's likely the outcome was from the issues/failures that have been noted with the first round of the kit failing.

Let me be clear, this isn't anything against you @post_break - your diy was spot on for the hardware provided - the kit lasted 3 weeks on my car in the state it was delivered in before failing. The fact remains however that is does fail, at least a certain percentage of the time so it was not a well engineered design. John would have been better off partnering with someone that focused on the hardware, while he focused on the tune.

•Aftermarket parts and kits are just that, and do not go through all the rigorous OEM type design, modeling and testing, nor do most of them employ hundreds of engineers like the OEM's do, and spend hundreds of thousands of man hours on their stuff.
•Ultimately, you, the owner, is responsible for your car.

Just simple, "well known" facts.
Another goal of your posts (all of them) seems to be to convince the FT86 community that a vendor/tuner/shop/professional mechanic cannot be held responsible for incompetence. You are wrong. That is a simple LEGAL (and CIVIL) fact.

IF this fire is proven to be caused by design flaws or improper installation of professionally installed aftermarket parts then the OP has every right to be made whole for his loss in total. It is my understanding that the insurance company may/will cover the loss of the value of the car but not the total investment in the car. Therefore, the OP and the insurance company may still pursue a legal resolution to the case with one or more of the above mentioned parties.

You are also a "tuner", correct?
