I haven't been given a citation because of those two reasons but I can VA cops being pricks (not all obviously but they exist).
TBH yes they are assholes especially when you get near Emporia, I got pulled over and "almost" cited for not having front plates...I work in Virginia but I pay NC taxes for my car which doesnt require front plates.

The littlest reason is all the need to pull you over in this awful state..

yeah, according to VA law, when you enter the commonwealth you have to abide by their laws, not the laws of the place you came... so no matter where your car is registered if it doesnt conform to VA law they can give you a ticket.

welcome to VA, and enjoy the revenue generation process.

I don't like this law. I'm from CT and we require a front plate but it is not enforced. I go to school in MA and like to use the excuse that its not required in CT to have a front plate, but seeing as you can still get a ticket out of state...this sucks.

Guess Ill be carrying the front plate in the car from now on..

What a terrible state, lol I have my car registered in Kansas...no emissions/no front plate/no harassment over tint *most cases*

But yeah, I'd just chalk that ticket up to the state being money grabbers and drive with them down for now on. What a pain!

This. Not sure what the laws are concerning tint from out of state vehicles but assuming you aren't exempt, pay it.

I got pulled for no front tag (under very very BS circumstances of course, nobody likes VSP, not even the guys who are on "their side") which is also a no point offense and got a court date in a not particularily busy county. I could either admit guilt and pay $90 or go to court.

Went to court and got it dismissed. Great right? No. Still payed over $70 in court costs and blew almost 5 hours of my time.

Better off paying it.
