While we'd love to sell you more oil, I can't recommend you change it every 3k in good faith.
Here's an oil analysis from my s2k, using 300V. ![]() And, for reference, a virgin sample

TRD here are advising to use the TRD/Motul 75W140 in the stock torsen LSDs in our NZ cars. If you swap this out for a mechanical, then they advise to then use the TRD Japan oil.

![]() Seriously though, the Gear 300 75W-90 is an outstanding ester based oil and it's doubtful that there would be very many (if any) conditions in a BRZ/FR-S that this oil can't handle. Motul claims 0% shear loss and that the oil stays in grade after 20 hours in the KRL shear test. http://www.astm.org/Standards/D6022.htm It's also highly recommended for Subaru diffs by a tribologist at bitog that blends gear oils. The Subaru USA rally team does use the Gearff 75W-140, but I seriously doubt that there are very many BRZ/FR-S applications that would need such an oil (maybe serious track only cars). Of course, I would be interested to see a uoa where the Gear 300 wasn't sufficient. -Dennis Last edited by bluesubie; 08-02-2013 at 10:03 AM. |

I wonder where APR got this information. I am curious if it of their own opinion, or was this stated to them by Motul. Either way I suppose oil analysis is the true tell all.
"300V is not designed for extended oil change intervals, therefore it should be changed after track/race events, at 3000 miles on ultra high performance street vehicles or at 5000 miles on lower performance engines. APR Recommends 300V Power 5w40 for most high performance racing applications and 300V Le Mans 20w60 for 24 hour endurance racing with Audi R8 V10's. APR does not recommend use of low viscosity 300V oils for extended periods of time as the lower viscosity oils were not intended for street or long track use. For help choosing the correct 300V oil, please contact APR." http://www.goapr.com/products/motul_oil_300v.html Next oil change I am going to send a sample to Blackstone, we run the 300V 5W30 in our turbocharged car. I am hoping for the same results others have apparently been getting in regards to length of oil change intervals. Last edited by No Limit Motorsport; 08-02-2013 at 10:49 AM. |

Yep.
A few years ago on bobistheoilguy, there was a modified twin turbo S4 that ran 300V for 7-8k mile intervals with very good results. Their detergent/dispersant package of good levels of calcium and magnesium has always been good for a typical street oil change interval with some track use thrown in as well. -Dennis |

I understand that a lot of lesser oils thin out with temperature and use. 300V is a top shelf oil. |

@CSG Mike, I'd agree as long as the viscosity stays the same it's fine. I just don't think I've seen a 7000 mile 300V 0W-20 on this forum.

I still have the OEM oil in a bottle that I haven't sent to Blackstone... infinite shelf life right? derp. Coming up on 5000 miles on the Eco-Lite 8100 soon-ish too.
