Can you take a picture of the radio in daylight so that we can see the fitment? How well does it fit? Did you have to modify the trim pieces at all or add spacers? Finally does the rearview camera come on when you put the car into reviers even with the bypass installed?
I'm looking at getting this and using ARLiberator to control my android phone. |

I wish they made the AVH8500BHS with the AppRadio2's capacitive screen. I just picked up the appradio 2 to temporarily replace my AVH5500BHS until Pioneer gets their firmware act together. The screen on the AppRadio2 is better in every regard (touch, visual quality, and surprisingly smudge resistance) than the 2013 AVH lineup.

Here's a photo from yesterday with the video from a Rydeen Duo camera. I can take a better one later today. Yeah, the X8500bhs's screen definitely isn't as responsive as an iPad or Nexus 7, but still okay.

Um this might sound dumb but how exactly does the navigation work on this? Through your phone or do you need an add on device?
Also, I'm guessing the faceplate lowers so you can put the dvd in behind it?.. -looks awesome btw. Was hesitant on not having a knob but I think it won't be a problem |

Well, this thread just pushed me over the edge. I currently have the X4500BT, which met most of my needs, but it just died on me about 4 months in. First major failure i've had over 6-7 pioneer headunits.
Beyond that, the things that frustrated me about the x4500bt was how slow it was when navigating through the folders of a USB stick. Lack of SD slot was also an issue for me, but everything else was ok. I was really hoping that the X8500BHS would have a different software setup and screen, which it sounds like it does. I will be returning my X4500BT and getting the X8500BHS! (Also, for reference here is my setup) Pioneer Headunit (was x4500bt, will be x8500bhs) JL Audio XD500/3 Amp JL Audio C5-653 3 way components JL Audio 10W3v3 Subwoofer Integrity Concepts Subwoofer Enclosure

In mirror mode, it will mirror anything (including Google Maps) from your iPhone to the x8500 head unit. You won't be able to control Google maps from the unit in mirror mode. Waze (in AppRadio mode) will take inputs from the head unit since it is a native app. |

What about the Aux. Port right below the USB? Is there a cable for that? I haven't been able to find any information on that.

When was looking into that, I wasn't able to find a plug-n-play solution. I think you may need to do some soldering to make it work but I believe you will need to tear into that USB/AUX part. Should be a DIY on these forums or on the internets for that. |
