I appreciate the feedback. Does it seem ok that is still does it when the car has 2800 miles on it. Guess that was my biggest worry.

There are a bunch of coatings on the motor, most likely soaked in armorall from the dealer too. Could be the clutch or brake pads breaking in.

Pretty sure not brakes since not really even using them on highway drive and just coast to end of off ramp. Clutch and or engine makes sense. It just amazes me how a service dept could come up with such an incredibly crazy answer. Just hope it stops stinking in near future.

Your fine.. My wife's car with 60k miles on the odo, I can produce the same odor at WOT getting on the hwy.. Modern engines run rich at WOT to keep the EGTs from getting too hot.. So you get some unburnt fuel smell and odor from the cats. Can also be someone in front of you taking off in a hurry..
The dealers response is hilarious..

Thanks sir ! Appreciate you help. Its really nice having a place I can go to actually get answers to problems instead of relying on a service dept to actually figure something out. Wow, that's pretty sad actually.

I was out this morning.. Got on the expressway and just merged in then slowed down a little bit in fourth gear doing 45.. Punched it till 75.. Same odor as you described.. Also had the windows down.. I have 2200 miles on mine.. Enjoy your car..

Update. I found an oil leak on what I believe is my cylinder head plate. Its dripping oil onto the exhaust system. Think this may be a contributing factor. Apt tomorrow to see what they are gonna do about it.

I think the 1st page should be updated and point the finger to the over pipe / seal near it. Furthermore, that there is a solution for this. Raceseng.
"The Raceseng Cam Plate is the reliable way to prevent your cam plate from pissin' oil on your exhaust manifold."

Are we sure that oil drip is always the cause? I knew there was a drip there when we get on it hard, but I figured the smell was always just the cats.

But I do have oil residue behind that plate, so I guess that makes sense.

And Raceseng is out of stock currently.

To get rid of the oil leak you don't NEED Raceseng plate, you can remove the OEM one, use a good sealant a.k.a permatex black seal, and bolt it back on.

Also, if there is a leak in the PCV or breather line you will also get some type of "burnt oil" smell.

I think you have got a good point. And to back that up, I had my car oil leak(master cylinder plate) fixed 1000 miles ago and it still has the slight burning odor. I have checked and its bone dry where they fixed it. So I assume it has to be the cat converter. I hope anyway.

Today I shifted from 3-4th @6000~, it kind of smelt like the clutch was burning, my car is roughly 950 miles right now and I've never shifted that aggressively in it, is this normal?
