I havent noticed any vibration. Just took her for a spin and up to 75 mph and didnt notice anything out of the norm.

Whether you swerve or not depends on the size of the animal versus the size of the car. What you don't want to do is take out the legs of the animal, roll it onto your hood and have a half dead carcass thrash your face in. In a BRZ hitting anything bigger than a dog should be avoided if at all possible.

Advising someone to "just hit the animal" is very dangerous advice. Trees and bushes don't kick out your windshield and smash your face in.

Also, the majority of drivers swerve the wrong way when trying to avoid an animal leaping into the road. ALWAYS try to hit the ass end, not the head end. A panicked deer will NEVER back up. With luck you'll miss the ass end unless the deer freezes in your headlights (which almost never happens). Swerving away in an attempt to avoid the deer just keeps you on a collision course.

Incidentally, this is also the correct strategy for avoiding a vehicle entering at right angles to you. The all too common reaction is to swerve "away" which confirms your collision bearing. Most times you should swerve towards the moving vehicle and try to hit it as far towards the back as you can manage. Unfortunately even stupid drivers think they're smarter than deer and frequently they will brake at the last minute foiling this tactic.

Racers will tell you not to swerve away from a spinning car but to aim for where it is now, it won't be there when you do arrive at the scene of the spin. Same geometry.

I can't speak for anyone else - but I think when people say "dont swerve, don't veer, just hit the animal" it's with the understanding that the driver has a split second to react. If you have time to plan an escape route, or check your surroundings for a safe runoff area, or check your mirrors for cars etc - then you have time to slow down and not hit the deer.

Further, most people (myself included) don't have a lot of experience with emergency avoidance/braking and panic situations. So again, given how quickly these things happen (anyone in deer country can attest to how quick it happens) most people are going to react and swerve with no regard to surroundings or just hit the deer. I'd say the latter is preferable.

People say that because hitting the deer and just doing some property damage is almost always better than the alternative - hitting another car, ending up in a ditch, telephone pole etc, etc.

And I speak with experience - I hit a deer on an interstate going about 80mph +/- in afternoon traffic. Had I tried to take evasive action I would have been in a guard rail or into another car, potentially creating a multi-car accident. As it turned out, the only things hurt were my car and that stupid stupid deer.

And I don't have stats to back it up - But I would venture to say that very few (as a percentage of the total) car vs. animal hits result in the animal going through the windshield and "smashing someone's face in".

now by all means if the road is clear and you're confident (not arrogant) then go for it. in my evo i managed to "get around a deer" without facing a head on collision. funny enoug, i was then smacked in the passenger side by one really retarded deer trying to jump over my car. so while i missed once, the other wasn't too far behind. which seems to be the case more of than than not.

Funny you say that, I made some deer jerky not more than 3 weeks ago! Also have a roast in the fridge thawing at the moment, Bambi is pretty tasty.

All things considered though, I'd rather get 'em with the shotgun than the car =)

I personally wouldn't be continuing to road test it or guessing what it is, just saying. Lift the car and FIND OUT for sure before risking yourself anymore then you have or others, if something is in fact broke or getting there you should be attending to this before anymore driving...
