This car likes the revs. BTW, I've posted elsewhere, but my Unichip really seems to have leveled out the torque dip. I'm tempted to remove it temporarily just to double check and see if it makes as much difference as I seem to remember.

I took off the chip and yeah there was a difference without it. I think that's why I didn't mind being in 3-4k.

If I'm just takin' it easy, I keep the RPMs between 2k and 3.5k. If I'm having major fun out on the twisty, steep roads, then I'm up around 7k. Sometimes I'll get onto a freeway that way too, depending on what's going on. My key to downshift when cruising is usually when I get much below 2k at all.

When I took delivery of my car the shift indicator had not been activated and I have never turned it on. I don't want some buzzer or light telling me when it thinks I should shift. Check the owners manual, you can turn it off.

No I actually turned it on myself just to see how it worked. Thought it was kind of cool to have a manual car that tells you what gear your in on the cluster, I've never seen that before. The shift indicator is like two little dashes that are barely noticeable and very unsafe to pay attention to while actually driving. I keep forgetting to turn it off since I really don't notice it anymore.

I have my shift light set at 5700, so while I'm WOT I have time to react to the light before I hit the rev limiter. That being said, while driving normally I usually shift around 4.5k-5k

You must have a really slow reaction time lol. Thats really early to be worried about the rev limiter

Nah I just don't always notice the light, I look at the road more than my guages. and its more like a warning you should probably shift soon light in any case

I drive mine like I stole it ask anyone who knows me.

With that said mine is always in the high rpm range.

Really I look at the FR-S as a motorcycle on four wheels and after all the car has a 5 year/60K warranty.

Depends on the traffic. If there are 4WD/SUV/Trucks around me, I'll keep the revs 3.5-4.5k rpm so they can hear me. Drivers around here are crap and I've almost been taken out heaps of times by idiots who can't change lanes without looking.

If there isn't much traffic I usually baby the car around 2.5-3.5krpm.

Keep it above 2000rpm unless your coming to a stop or making turn.

Shift around 3000-3500rpm for decent power
