Same here, I've heard this thunk twice before and from reading threads thought it was early DI seal syndrome, but thanks to this resurrected thread it seems to be otherwise.

Heard a loud bang once while starting back down a mountain road just starting to move. Never figured out what it was but sounded like a sharp hit to the chassis with a hammer. A very loud bang! Never heard it again since.

hmm, I usually hear a deep thud coming from the rear drivers side when I'm turning right to get out of my neighborhood. It doesn't happen all the time, and I don't think it's happened these last few days. My car has ~450 miles on it. Do you think it's the suspension settling in or something else?

Heard this the first time today pulling into parking lot at work. I thought I hit something but I know I did not. I would have known if I hit anything but there was nothing except the noise. I thought maybe the sway bar end links broke or popped but that wasn't the case... will see if this happens again.

I think I know what you guys are talking about.. Anytime I take a hard right turn the back end makes a loud thump and it feels like I slammed the curb with my rear wheel (but I didnt). It's just the traction control trying to tell me to stop being a dumbass, or so I thought?

i was driving straight and i heard a loud bang come from the passenger door....thought some1 threw a rock at my car while i was driving but there was nothing

I experienced this in my personal BRZ, going straight down the freeway at 65, and it sounded like someone shot my passenger rear quarter panel with a BB gun. I pulled off the freeway to check it out and could not find anything. Iv'e had my car up on a lift a few times too and never noticed anything broken or misaligned with the suspension.

I just assumed it was debris, but with it being a common issue the only thing I can think of would be a spot weld breaking apart on the panels. It is about the only thing I could think of that would make that sound, it was definitely a harsh metal on metal impact sound.

For those of you experiencing something more minor, I noticed a small and subtle pop coming from what sounded like the rear passenger side when driving aggressively on a canyon road. Turned out it was the trunk release handle on the inside of the trunk swinging up.



I'm guessing that is not the case with most of the larger sounds you guys are hearing, but I found that interesting and possibly helpful to someone noticing smaller "pops"...

I've confirmed that I have the loud popping also. I think I've always just assumed I was driving over some sort of debris, but I've been paying close attention to debris on the roads and I'm clearly hearing the loud pop on the passenger side when the streets are clear. Hope it's nothing to be worried about...

I have heard a similar pop but it was while shifting from 1st to 2nd when the car is still cool (not beating on it, just driving easy). Happens every so often. Seems like it came from directly below the cup holder area. Wasn't as loud as you describe your sound but a pop all the same.
