Ive been using lucas octane booster to increase my octane levels to as close to 93 as possible, but Lucas and many other octane boosters dont say how many levwls it will increase. I was at autozone and saw NOS brand octane boost and it claims to be most potent on market. So I bought a bottle and added it to a full tank of 91. Says treats up to 16 gallons and only costs $13.99...much cheaper than buying racing fuel!
I was curious if octane boosters actually work and I found a site that says "it's not mater if they work, but which one works best"
Turns out the NOS brand is the most potent and will increase your octane over 93 when added to 16 gallons of shell 91.
So this is what I will be using every fuel fill up now.

Eh... South mountain has A LOT of bicyclist. I avoid that road for that reason. And many more tourist that are looking over the city and not paying attention. The last 2-3 times i went i was driving up at the speed limit to meet friends at the top for a quick photo or chat. Each time i had a tourist run me clean off the road... One time i almost said fuck it and let them hit me head on while holding down the horn for a good ten seconds and then drove into the dirt.

For the safety of bicyclist keep it to the speed limit on that road. Its short, tight, and extremely populated. Also careful with that "lifting" turn else you might pull a mazda / m3 on it.

Thats expensive to do on every tank. Within a few tanks you may as well upgrade to an E85 flash... And you aren't gaining a huge benefit with the 93 over the 91 for day to day driving. Also some additives can be damaging (look at the E85 fuel pump degradation thread, it was questioned if additives caused the issue). If you really want to do your own octane booster its cheaper to order a few specific chemicals and mix your own race fuel. You can easily mix it beyond 93 octane. However your car will not gain a benefit form this as it tuned from the factory for 93 iirc.

Be careful with octane booster. I have heard in some cases it make the vehicle run a lot hotter. My buddies tested this out first hand a few years back. Although I am unsure the exact reasoning behind this? I will try to contact them and find out.

As nelsmar said I would stay away from the stuff. There has been speculation that fuel additives destroyed the filter inside ones guys tank. Hes blaming e85 but he is the only one it has happened to.

We can always test it out. We can hook a cable up to your car and plot knock detection. If your car is pulling timing before the booster then after we should see a decrease in predetonation and an increase in timing.

Orrrrrrrr

You can just drive my car tonight and see how you like the e85. Im only running 66% ethanol right now but your not going to get differences you feel with ethanol out of a bottle.

Remember octane equivalent of e85 is over 100...but the tune allows your car to take advantage of it by allowing to advance the timing and leaning out the fuel which are cars run rich.

Let me know if you want to meet I have to take some logs tonight anyways.(anyone is free to drive my car by the way. I have offered that since the beginning because I didnt have that option when I originally got mine and didnt know if it would be worth it)

There are two people in town with unichips that I want to try out one of these days.

So Tucson peeps how bout we do Dante's Fire on Thursday? Say 5:30 or 6:00? Im not much of a drinker but happy hour apps and fellow twin owners sound good to me. Give me a head count so i dont show up and end up alone. We can keep moving it until we all like and agree on a place.

Dante's Fire thursday July 25
