Thanks, should be interesting to see what it looks like.

Only thing I'm really interested in is the DRL. Would be great if we could finally get it working on existing models.

@sav Yeah shouldn't be a hassle. Are you in the Durban area?

Also we're planning a breakfast run of sorts with @Ryan86 for perhaps aug/sept. Will post about it later.

Cool! Nope but I'd probably be willing to drive to the first dealership capable of doing this.

Heard about the breakfast run - bring your PC and activate all the GP guys' DRL while we're there?

Moulded boot mat standard.

Small boot spoiler & daytime led lights on high models.
@ZakD - this spec change is effective when?
I am asking because my ride's being built in August - delivery in September sometime.

I know my dealership mentioned that the 86 was skipped in the July price increases, which made me quite happy.

@BentAnat Effective from yesterday, 14 July. Check with your dealership, I'm sure it would be.

Oh snap! Thanks.
Since the production date is August, it definitely should be. But I'll double check.

Answer from my dealer:

I am aware of the spec change. The bulletin reads:
Ordering for current models close on Thursday 11 July 2013. Ordering for Sec change models open on Monday 15 July 2013.
As you know, your order was placed a long time ago but I don’t know for certain if they change it automatically to a spec change vehicle because it’s not in production yet.

This is usually what happens, the models that are in build, automatically become spec-change models. However, the Release to Dealer date on the spec change models is only planned for October 2013, which makes me think that you will get the current model.

I will get your answer as soon as possible and revert back to you

@ZakD, a friend of mine is expecting theirs by the end of this month... Do you think their is a possibility of the dealerships applying the spec changes, or is it the factory only?

I am also keen to hear about this. I'm getting one that's being transferred into the local dealers stock. I don't have its build date or any details yet, but assume that even though its new, its prior to the new spec date.

<<July, 17th>>
Got some news from the dealer today. My car does NOT have the new spec applied according to dealer . Earliest new spec models are October apparently. Also got news of a limited edition scheduled for 2014.

No one at the dealer seems to know about the DRL on the new high spec models - whats different? As I understand it, its already fitted on the current high models.

A bunch of us here waiting, it seems.
I will keep everyone here posted with what my dealer says.
I know I ordered in December, and thanks to the unique way Toyota is set up (it has its pros and cons), I only recently got a production date in August. Subaru could have gotten me a BRZ in a week flat.

I just got the same info from the dealer: NO spec change on my car, scheduled for August production.
I did mention that I want a price on the boot mat the moment it becomes available, though - that's the one thing I really quite want.
The Radio is quick to replace (and cheaper) aftermarket.

Same here. I enquired about the boot mat. Apparently its not loaded yet on their system so no indication of price. I hope its the one we saw some months ago on an Aussie model. Looks like a good fit.

I'm still concerned about DRL changes. Even though the high auto already has DRL, the notice to the dealers indicated a DRL change on the high spec. I'll probably miss out on whatever the change is. Hopefully its just a software tweak for keeping it on even when dipped beams are on and can be reapplied to my car.

Excited though. Should be receiving mine next week. Touch wood, cross fingers, toes and other jewellery.

The change is that they'll actually be working - they're currently "park lights".

Well that's disappointing

I'm already trying to come to terms with losing out on a proper BT integrated system (ala Mercedes, BMW etc) and relying on a radio upgrade and now DRLs that are park lights.....

It's okay, you won't see them while you're driving anyway.
