confused about who gets what models

Sorry for the noob question...

I'm confused about which models North America will get, and I tried looking through the posts and didn't find anything - and I didn't know what criteria to put into the FAQ filter.

Basically, I know Scion will be releasing a model in NA and Subaru will have the BRZ, but will Toyota also be releasing a stock model in the USA?

I like the look of the Toyota version so far, and I'm not sure if Scion will be releasing the leaked image version or will they make changes to it as they have to the other cars they've released here in the US.

This is probably answered somewhere in an obviously placed sticky post, but I'm new and still sorting things out.

Thanks!

Hello noob.
Dont be lazy, your answer lies within the stickies.

Really?

Is this the sort of non-responsive "help" I should expect?

Sorry I asked.

He said he tried searching through the stickies and couldn't find anything. Why not give him a link to where the info is since he obviously made some effort to find the info himself.

IIRC the US will be getting the FR-S as a Scion and the BRZ as a Subaru, no Toyota model.

While no one knows for sure, it is highly likely that the Scion version will be exactly the same as the Toyota (from the leaks in the stickies), with potentially different taillights and/or other things. Also, since its a Scion, it will most likely only get one base model (that is above the base Japanese one), but everything else will be extras that you pay for, such as fog lights, hid headlights, radio, etc.

Is that how the Scion models typically are sold? I'm assuming any extras you want are rolled into the price and installed by the dealer before you take it off the lot?

Sorry I asked.

There have been a lot of new members lately, and the established members are just a little tired of newb questions (which are usually accompanied by claims of having searched, etc.). So when a new member uses their first post to ask a question that most of the forum considers common knowledge, it's bound to raise a few hackles. I'm sorry your reception wasn't as warm as you'd hoped for, but we're really not such a bad bunch once you get to know us.

Welcome.

I can appreciate repeat question fatigue, but this forum isn't exactly set up to search very easily, and the question isn't really something I was able to boil down into a simple search criteria that didn't return a bunch of unrelated posts with the same keywords... The FAQ feature at the top is basically useless, and I was just hoping I could just get a simple answer like Longhorn gave me.

I still haven't found any topics in the Stickies that have an answer, and each sticky is at least 20 pages deep.

I appreciate the welcome, but I don't think this is the community for me.

Eh, you have a Honda. This is a better welcome than people would get at Honda Tech, and the searching and everything else sucks there even more

Stick around, this forum has the most info and many smart users. The other FT86 related forums I've visited haven't seemed nearly as interesting.

Scion's come fully loaded with AC, power windows, sunroof, radio, power door locks, and well everything that is not on the accessories list.

What you don't get is accessories like fog lights, ground effect TRD packages, upgraded exhaust, accessories type stuff.

Accessories are not options they are accessories

http://www.scion.com/#/tC-accessories

Since the FT-86 High Spec pretty much comes with everything but accessories (it don't even come with a radio) figure that this will be the model to be sold at the Scion dealer (it will come with the HIDs, Foglights, dual zone AC, aluminum pedals, start button, leather steering wheel, and upgraded seat trim and guages, and 17 inch rims.

A lot of people are looking for the cheapest model...the low spec...Scion's don't come stripped. Be prepared to pay for the Hi-Spec model...But if you look at it, the High-spec model really has what most people are gonna want in this car standard. Scion is not going to sell a $20k FR-S...that's too close to the price of the $19,300 2012 6 speed manual tC, which actually has more equipment than the High-Spec FT-86...(ie 18 inch rims, sunroof, radio, ect)...there is a Scion tC RS 7.0 that runs $21,600 that has a start button, better interior, and a TRD body kit and better rims. We could see Scion do this with the FR-S....but we already know that the rest of the world will have two trims....Low-spec and High-Spec.

Hopefully we will know the price in 15 days! But don't count on it...we might now know till the car is released in June 2012.

Thanks Trip... so what gets announced in 15 days is still going to be the Toyota version, right? Any guesses as to how long it might take to see what the Scion version might look like? (based on previous JP releases and US Scion releases of established models?)
