I can't speak for anyone else, but my crickets have been dying slowly over the course of ownership. I got the car last May, but only have around 8k miles on it. If they do end up going away I will feel even more sorry for people who have been letting dealership monkeys take apart their car for the last year instead of enjoying it

My crickets started within two days of ownership. I always run 93, and I have tried ethanol free to no avail.
The first week I had the car I was picking up a part for another car at my dealership and spoke to the assistant manager in the service department about it. She basically told me what I already knew. She said that they can order the new pump and install it, but the crickets will ultimately return and that I would be without my car for a day or so for no point. After getting that confirmation from my dealer I just stopped caring. I don't even notice the sound anymore. I think at this point if it were to go away I would think something is wrong.

There's already a thread with over 100 pages of discussion on this subject, why do people keep opening new threads? Good lord.

No. I've owned two direct injection sports cars: 2007 sky redline and 2007 335i. I've removed all "sound deadening" from both cars engines. Which on the sky was made from the same material that lines most hoods and then a plastic engine cover. On the 335i, it's a plastic engine cover with rubber seals on the side. The normal sound of a HP fuel system is a ticking sound, much like a ticking valve. NOT the crickets heard in many YouTube videos. And it certainly doesn't get better or worse with the type of fuel you use. I bought my sky prior to the big fuel change to 10% ethanol. There was a decrease in HP with the new fuel mix, but no change in the noise or the sound of crickets. This was on a turbo 2.0 4 cylinder DI engine created by GMs European division back in '07. So there is NO reason any of you should be experiencing crickets on a 2013 DI engine put together by two engine geniuses like Subaru and Toyota. Personally, I hope they get it fixed for 2014. Anyone that says this is a normal noise, is either inexperienced, or buying-in to the stall tactics the dealerships are feeding them. Don't beat the car for this tiny flaw, but certainly don't dismiss this as normal and delay a fix any further.

I find it funny. I have them too and I don't hear them when driving. Only at a red light and even then, having your radio at regular voice levels, you don't hear them. It's like it's the end of the world for some. If you can't stand it, either get a header and catback or maybe it's time to switch to an electric car.
