Apparently the TRD springs are going to be here really soon. They're surprisingly pretty cheap for being TRD parts, plus they're rumoured to go down to as low as 1.5" (doubtful, but that's the current rumour anyway). You'll be lower like you want to be, plus your stock struts will be under warranty if anything happens. Win-Win.

I'd say bookmark the page and wait until they're officially out, as in, when dealerships start offering them, and then order them.
They're probably still at least a few weeks away from being available to the public. That shouldn't be too long of a wait.

I'm using Eibach 1" drop springs, never had the need to buy coils. Go for the springs only if you're just in it for the look, if you're looking for track days and tuning/fiddling with the suspension then save up and get coils.

There really isn't anything wrong with being on a budget. We've got Eibach springs that we can do for you on a good price and it'll do just the trick without breaking the bank.

Ask yourself this: If I get coilovers, will I be adjusting my height or damping (if applicable) once it's set where I want it? If you answer no, then just pick a spring that will get you to where you want to be and call it a day. Throw in a set of koni's and you will have a versatile setup that performs well, improves aesthetics, as well as maintains reliability and comfort.

a good spring/strut combo will be better than cheap coils. That said, i dont think springs are ever frowned upon.

If that's the drop you want, and you're willing to sacrifice a little ride quality and handling compared to other springs, go for it.

What about the condition of my car? Will my struts not last as long as compared to perhaps the pro kit with not as large of a drop?

IMO yes, with the bigger drop you can expect the shocks to not last as long. Strut durability is more drop related than spring rate related.

Unless our struts are piss poor quality i dont think we should have any problem with em blowing. I mean i know some STi's that have had springs on stock struts with over like 50k miles no problem.

Ever since the car had a few miles on the clock I've installed the springs and it has around 15k miles on the clock now with no issues at all. Yes, it's a bit more stiff but that shows how stanced out your car feels and looks! haha. Go for the springs if you're not looking for suspension tuning, just my 2 cents.

Seems like unless you got KWs you'd be criticized for your coils anyway, but anywho, if springs fit your budget, why not just get it? I run springs and I love them, its better than stock. I mean its your car, it doesn't really matter what people on the forum think as long as it fits your budget and makes you happy. I will go coilovers in the future but for now I'm ballin on a budget just like you. lol.
