How to pick anti-sway bars

Its time for larger anti-sway bars after adding stickier tires (Michelin Pilot SS) so how do I pick which ones and which diameter? I've not tracked the car yet but I do enjoy going to the Dragon/US129 which is close by for me (318 turns in 11 miles). The car is lowered on H&R sport springs (.85" drop) and I have the Koni sport inserts and camber bolts. I want very neutral handling which I have now but with body roll. I like the Whiteline kits cause they come with end links but I also like the Hotchkis kit cause it comes with all the new hardware and stuff but the diameters are quite a bit larger. Any tips? OMG the dragon that shit is insane I'd be afraid of crashing you have bigger balls than me sure, I think anywhere between 22-25 MM would be good for you, and just in case a roll cage and 4 point harness for the Dragon I have heard horror stories about the dragon my friend.

wut.... its not like the dragon is death road



its just a windy road. its a blast around 55 in most areas. i wouldnt recommend more becuase of the cops everywhere

Ha, thats funny. I used to drag knees on sportbikes there so I know the road pretty well. Stock, the car is miserable up there with the rear wanting to come out going into every turn. Once you get the car handling neutral with good tires it is very confidence inspiring. My problem last time was just wearing the edges off the tires more than it should cause of the body roll. It could probably use a little more camber too but its my gas saver for commuting and such.

I've very pleased with my Hotchkis kit, I'd recommend something adjustable so you can play with the different settings and dial in what you want.

I've heard a couple people very happy with the Hotchkis kit. What are the advantages/disadvantages with hollow vs. solid bars?

Our RCE hollow bars will get you an approx 22mm front and 16mm rear with less wight than an equivalent solid bar. Keeps the car nice and flat.

Is it roll you're trying to change or improve handling? Why is body roll causing you a problem?

To answer your question, however, if the car understeers then increase the rear bar/reduce front bar spring rate until you get to the feeling you want. If it oversteers then do the opposite.

You may think the car is neutral but it's not. It understeers like a pig (compared to a truthfully neutral car, of which no road cars are). Don't confuse power-oversteer with handling.

I did some rear bar testing and found just going up to a 16mm rear bar over the stock 14mm made a big difference. A 18mm rear bar was too much - you'd need to also increase the front bar maybe 2-4mm to balance the car out and I didn't think it was necessary as body roll wasn't an issue. Depends on your use case though; i'm not racing on a perfectly flat surface, so that will have an effect.

I'm using AD08's by the way, stock suspension.

Leon, I appreciate the bump. I do understand seat time. I've run plenty of 103s at Talladega GP on sport bikes. These cars do get some body roll after adding better rubber. Thats what I'm working on minimizing.

You'll see a lot of Hotchkis everywhere when it comes to sway bars, I mean the company only started business making sway bars only, so you would imagine they're pretty damn good at it. I have Hotchkis bits and pieces on my car, and they're very VERY high quality parts. With the adjustability in the sway bars, you can dial in the exact feel you want to get out of your FRS.

Can't go wrong with Hotchkis for sure. Got great pricing as well if you know the right place to buy from

@ op I too am not sure what way I want to go with this mod so I am curious to see what you decide on. My daily drive is very curvy (no dragon but fun still). Once I beefed up my tires (slight camber in rear) I had more faith at added speeds around them. subed for ideas!
