Theres one on base here I like... I wouldnt buy one, they look to much like a hyundai. I spent all last year stationed in Korea, I saw more velositer (spelling) then the Genisis I think I saw 1 coupe...but other hyundais are everywhere...they actually make decent cars...after they and Kia became 1 they do make really reliable cars.

Hyundai has come a long way. Even their lower tiered cars like the Elantra are pretty good cars for what you pay. That said, their manual gearboxes are pretty poor across their whole lineup. They need to work on that along with their handling. Most of their cars have zero feedback, and even the Gencoupe (which is the best of any Hyundai) is pretty numb especially compared to a Miata/FRZ.
If Hyundai focuses on weight reduction, gearbox, and handling with the next generation Gencoupe, it will be an awesome car. My other big complaint with Hyundai is that they grossly overestimate their MPG. On pretty much all their cars (they were busted for it to and fined). |

Contrary to the GC forums beliefs, IMO The twins might be the best tuner base you can buy right now. Couple that with the fact I prefer the look of the twins, the driving experience and the fact I trust the racing pedigree of Suburu and Toyota 10x more than I trust Hyundai is why I chose it over the GC. The Gen is a beautifully powerful car but I don't need to bash it to reaffirm my decision. I chose the car that suited me. The price it would cost to get that coupe to handle like the twins would probably equal out about to what it would cost us to make enough HP to overtake it so the differences in price from a tuner perspective are about a wash.

I didn't say it was but the Genesis Coupe crowd thinks we are a threat to them and we are, it wouldn't take much for the twins to beat their 3500 lbs car. Then again what do I know after all I'm what trolls call a "delusional owner".

whats is? i dont care what the top speed of the car is. i was just explaining how coming to the conclusion that 139mph is the top speed not unreasonable like he seemed to imply. when a car is drag limited, its pretty difficult to define a top speed because the numbers will change as conditions do.

I used to be a mod there until life caught up with me and I didn't have time for it anymore. Similar to here, I followed the car and joined the forum before it ever hit the street. I had planned to get one but bad luck interfered and I was laid off. I did test drive some though. The original ZF auto was a pretty good transmission, but the manual left something to be desired. Can't say anything about the new models, except that I preferred the old exterior. Overall I just like the FRS/BRZ better now.
What did you really expect though? It's a forum for another car.. It's not like someone's going to make a thread and then "oh yeah, the competition is way better than us." People will always feel the need to rationalize their purchase and reaffirm that they made the best decision. In the end, the only thing that should really matter is that you are happy with the choice you made. And if not, you can always switch sides. |

If we're talking about drag limiting the speed of the car, then absolutely it would, assuming it's the same direction. We're not talking about the wind pushing the car 4mph faster like some sort of sailboat, we're talking about the relative speed of the air with respect to the car being less, meaning less drag.

1) Altitude (thinner air = less resistance but possibly less power) 2) Engine power 3) Humidity 4) Road surface Take, for example, the same car's top speed tested on a runway (smooth tarmac) vs. a dry lake bed or salt flats. The speed on the runway will be higher simply because there is less rolling resistance on the car. Throw in any of the other above factors, and you will start to see more differences. |
