It's the grass is always greener concept. In Japan they rebadge them as scions in north America they rebadge them as toyotas because you are told you can't have it makes you want it more. I don't care what that little plastic badge says I enjoy the car and after driving one I knew it was the car for me. I do have large scion vinyl on the sides of my car because I got tired of answering the "what is it question". I was going to take them off about 6 months ago but they have grown on me so I'm going to leave them on. I am one of those people that could care less who makes it if it's a good car at a fair price I am a potential customer. I have no brand loyalty because every company has made great cars and huge piles of crap.

Don't know myself, once you reach 50 you stop worrying about that stuff. But I can understand people wanting the heritage,....but if you do it your also setting yourself up for some knuckle head who knows a little about the car to yell "NICE SCION "

Pretty much. Drinking some brews and realized internet arguments are useless.

I rebadged my Scion logos to Toyota's. I plan on adding the push button start, and all the other features that go along with the Euro model. If you don't like it, frankly I don't care.

For me I like the Euro model the best. Badges and all. So I will have fun adding all of those features on to my car one step at a time. Right down to the wheel caps and floor mats.

Because it is too light to turn the airbag on? =p lol just bustin your balls.

I personally rebadged mine fully GT 86. Just because I can't stand Scion, anyone who askes I usually just explain that they are the same car, just one is the Euro model and they go "oh thats dumb it should be Toyota here too!"

Or I tell them it is the Euro model and I had it converted to left hand drive =p

I like all Scions actually. The first gen xB had a really cool kei-car style to it, and the iQ seems like a great competitor in the "compact urban cruiser" class, originally run by the Mini and Smart cars.

I'm just not a big fan of the people who drive them. I have nothing wrong with modifying your car, and I can even appreciate rice. They just aren't my kind of people.

Since I'm guessing the badges aren't mass-produced, I'm guessing you'd have to call them up to order one, and even then, they'd probably ask "what happened to the one that came on your car?"

Respect for the Toyota engineers, developers and the people who cut the red tape in Toyota to turn this car from a dream to a reality. Respect to the visions of Tada-san who went to the ends to convince the executive board meeting with the "sole agenda that people around the world are losing interest in cars and what Toyota was going to do about it." To Toyota and Tada-san's hard work to convince Subaru to work with them and put this car into production. That's why I rebadged to Toyota.

Exactly, people want to have what they don't have. There's nothing wrong with that. It's all personal preference, some people do something about it, some don't.

I'll leave this right here...

Aaron Robinson: It's Time For Toyota To Kill Scion

The best Toyota in decades is branded with the automotive equivalent of an "L" on its forehead.

(Link to Car and Driver's July 2012 article ^^^^)

"This Scion, the FR-S, will be a new “halo car”  for Toyota’s hipster brand, Hollis tells us. Well, thank mercy for miracles because that’s just what we’ve been pining for—a halo car for Scion.
Scion is a brand conceived in a focus group, born in a fluorescent-lit marketing department, and wet-nursed by copious spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations. It can claim no pedigree, no history. No Mr. Scion ever lived to turn his personal ambition into automobiles. When you buy a Scion, you buy into something akin to a second-year MBA’s class project on ways to penetrate the youth market by a car company that pins its fortunes almost entirely on aging baby boomers....

...While the Subaru BRZ is welcome, the Scion FR-S is puzzling. It should have been called the Toyota Celica. That name carries a legacy. That name means something. That name is ripe for overhaul and recommissioning, and the FT-86 would have done it blazingly for the kind of buyer attracted to the car, which more often than not is the kind of buyer who puts stock in badge identity. Instead, Toyota was so blinded by quarterly sales reports that it didn’t see opportunity in its own history, and America gets stuck with the best Toyota in decades branded with the automotive equivalent of an “L” on its forehead"

So go ahead, bring it on bitches...

I have a BRZ so I'm not particularly worried about my badge but truthfully I'll be shaving all the badges. It just looks better that way.

International car of mystery FTW.
