Just annoyed that nobody can seem to answer the questions that are being asked. "One-up-manship" over what yellowing looks like is rude and helps no one. Sorry if you're offended.

1. Is this covered under warranty? 2. Anyone else have this problem? Seems quite a few answered question number 2. The answer is 'yes'. And for question 1, you'll have to ask your dealer.

This is why I hate metallic paints. Plastic and metal paint differences. Every white brz frs I had seen has this issue with whiteout/satin white pearl. I opted for black because of that.

I have a white fr-s and there is a noticeable (though not dramatic) difference in the color between my front/rear bumers and the rest of my car.
I notice it most when washing/waxing the car but after the car is dry and has sat out for a little bit it gets harder to see. This is most definitely because the bumpers are plastic vs. the rest of the car being metal. This is not an isolated issue to our car. I have a red 2007 Toyota tacoma with a front bumper that has a very distinctly different shade of red vs the rest of the truck. It sucks but what ya gonna do? |

The material difference argument is not intuitive. At least it wouldn't be "they look different because the materials are different." It's more like "they look different because the paint is different because the materials are different." |

If you want to know the real reason for the difference in color..
The answer is static electricity. The paint lays completely flat on the metal surfaces when it's being painted. However the plastic bumpers develop a static charge that causes the paint particles to stand on end instead of laying flat. This causes the paint to reflect light differently and there you have it, different paint colors. The fact that they're painted separately only makes the problem worse. |

Look at any white pearl paint job on any make/model and it is going to be the same thing. It's plastic and it has a flex agent added to the paint and clear coat so that when the soccer mom backs into your car in the parking lot and barely touches your bumper the paint doesn't crack and split.
It's visible on Cadillacs, Toyota, Lexus or any other pearl white paint job. Now if you want to spend $10 grand on a paint job, I'm sure a good custom painter can make it match but you're gonna pay the price. I'm sure there are 'tricks' to correct the problem, it's just that factories can't afford the cost or amount of time it takes to do it. |

I have seen many white cars in middle east that have slight yellowing.
But maybe this will happen after 5 years. |

It may not be the answer you are looking for but those who have told you that this is from pearl paint acting differently on plastic than it does on metal are 1000% correct. White just happens to be the color that it is most noticeable on.

Also to remember after 1994 the world switched to color then clear process (2 stage) from the old (1 stage). The color and gloss effect was the same material. I'm guessing that's a lexus? Is it pre 1995?
