That's what I've read about the AEM. That sucks really. Not all of us have access to places to go for a tune.

You can get a solid general tune from FA20Club that would work pretty well. It won't be optimal, but it will definitely be better than stock. Later down the road, you can always go to get it adjusted if you come across a good tuner.

Sorry I might have misphrased. I meant that the intake will not be a limiting factor in hp gains until you hit 200+ whp.

Hey sorry to bring an old thread back to life.

I bought an Injen used with 2k miles on it and it works great, no problems at all. Car just idles at 600 rather than 500 on stock.

That being said, I called financing where I bought it and they said yes it will void the warranty, so I asked for it in writing, and they said ask services.

I called services and they said it will NOT void the warranty for simply having it installed. Only IF i break something during the install OR the intake causes issues, but simply having it on will not void the warranty. So i asked for it in writing and they said to call toyota/scion, so I did.

They referred me to the warranty section of the owners manual we got in that sexy black case . She told me the service manager was correct, and told me to check the manual to proof in writing. Nowhere could i find something along the lines of "Having aftermarket intake/parts will not void warranty just for having them installed" it only says something like "Toyota will not cover warranty if the fault is caused by an aftermarket"

So I still cannot get it writing that if i take my car in for an oil change and they see the injen intake they will not void the warranty, although they say it wont. I will email toyota to have a paper trail on this.

I have the AFE Stage 2 Oiled Intake.

As mentioned it works great up top, but down low it feels like you actually lose a bit.

Though that might be the increased noise which really accentuates and makes you aware of the torque dip.

I'm planning on getting a header back Perrin exhaust and a tune though so hopefully that makes the car really come together.

I have the TRD intake and like it. The thing I like most about it that has been demonstrated in a couple of dynos and has been my experience is it gives a bump in low end torque and hp. I believe both the perrin and fa20 intakes a hit in power down low. It also makes power without manipulating a/f ratios like some other intakes out there.

Another plus is you don't have to remove the front bumper to install it. Everyone I know who has removed their bumpers have had issues with them not aligning correctly when reinstalling it.

One negative is I've had a tough time getting a tune dialed in with this intake. The stock tune works well with no problems though. So, I've gone back to the stock tune with di fix because it doesn't have the issues the tune was giving me.

I've had the Injen intake for almost a year now, over 10k miles driven with zero issues.

It was my first mod and it makes the car sound super nice from stock.

I cant say you "feel" any power gain, it seems like it sometimes because it's louder

without a tune i cant think of any intake setup where you can notice the difference…

I like my TRD. The BS about some intakes getting you 10hp is marketing. No intake on this car is going to get you 10hp (at least an intake by itself).

I did not go Perrin because I dont want to remove the bumper. Sure its easy but go look at all the people who have complained about the clips and fastners wearing out because they are cheap and then the bumper not sitting up flush unless you replace them.

TRD accomplished my goals. Sound tube delete, keeps warranty nannies happy, throttle response improved.
