contact toyota head office or dealers in other provinces and you might get lucky...
Even subaru in cpt had a BRZ standing on the floor today, i would have thought these things would have sold way in advance. You never know who has stock when so keep calling, i waited a week for mine...
ps: keep cash at hand cause that seals the deal

I drove 6 hours to Pietersburg to pick up mine and search took less than a week.
They are out there if you widen your search.

An hour or two with the GAU, NW, LIM & MPU phonebooks and you could get lucky.
They're out there - you've just got to find them.
The right salesman who's hungry for business and prepared to put in some effort will get you a car.

This is my story - http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...postcount=2723

Good luck!!

Good advice. I'll start the groundwork.

so - >6 months in the wait now, Still no production date.
I have spoken to the guys from Barloworld Tygerberg, and the best I got out of them was the promise of emailing me information on importing, and pushiness about wanting me to promise that I'd take one the moment they find one. Then - nothing.

I spoke to a mate at Subaru the other day, and he advised STRONGLY against importing myself, suggesting that the dealerships should work with each other. Otherwise I'd have to call the Dealer principal for every.little.thing, which would ruin ownership.

I am still going to hang on for another month or two, but by now, it looks like Subaru might be able to get me a BRZ in somewhat of a hurry (mainly because they're not as FOS as out 'yota dealerships) should I want to.... but ouch... 100K extra for stuff I don't want.

I was in this exact boat.
As far as I understand this situation (and as I said - I have weighed up all options by now):
Your dealership orders the car in your spec.
Then Toyota gives them a "very" rough estimation of when they expect to tbe able to give you a build date, since they have to make sure that the right dealers get the right amounts of the right cars, etc.

Your dealership may try to swap with another dealership. Basically go "Hey, buddy - we have one in this spec coming sometime in the future. You have one now - wanna swap?". Other dealerships may or may not agree to this, since all Toyota dealerships compete with each other.

Until your dealership gets a build entitlement, they can do nothing but try to swap.

The dealerships that manage to get the cars for their clients QUICKLY are the ones that are either willing to trade, or ordered WAY back already, and essentially have a steady flow of incoming vehicles, where they guessed the spec that people would want.

I was in this very same boat until 2 days ago.
I ordered a pearl white standard spec in December. I heard NOTHING (except for the order confirmation) for month on end. Me being in Namibia made it even worse, since cross-border swaps are quite complex.
I called the dealership regularly to find out how far we were, and got "Sorry, no build date yet - we're trying to swap every week".
I talked to Jason at Barloworld, who sounded keen initially, until I wouldn't commit "blindly" to a buy, since Cross-border means the guys can make your life a bit more difficult than it needs to be (meaning that for every little thing you end up calling the dealer principal, who then MAKES the local dealerships/garages help you).
Trust me, I exhausted MANY options.
I finally got a build entitlement for August 2013 two days ago. Since then, I am like a kid in a candy store... FINALLY, I am getting my damn car in September.

Hahaha... no doubt.
It is kinda cool knowing that I am getting one that's been "mine" from the moment the parts were manufactured, though...

@ZakD : just curious, what are the main reasons people give to trade in their 86 and what are they trading it for?
