If they had fixed the interior I would maybe be swayed to try it... but tge rental car quality plastic the use is lackluster... the seating position is virtually unchanged and I hated it back in 06... its not gonna sway away just because it has a nicer stereo... if you americans like you cheap interiors, more power to you... but like most review say... the interior is so unrefined the mustang should be a second car and not a DD

The interior doesn't really have anything to do with driving dynamics, which we're discussing. You just seem adamant about not ever wanting to drive a newer one and basing your opinion of it on a much older version that has since been updated while not giving it a chance just because you don't like the interior. Apparently that didnt stop you in 2006.

I sat in a '13 Mustang recently V8/no TP. I test drove it around Van Nuys and while it did have a kick, the handling could best be describer as "meh" and I didn't feel comfortable pushing it to its limit. This is after 2 years of me promising to get myself a Mustang because I love them so much. I don't know much about the suspension geomtery/weight ratio, I just know that it wasn't the car for me. Straight line driving, sure, put a big smile on my face, but I was always wary around corners because it really did feel kind of heavy. OTOH, the 2013 models are just plain beautiful and the Boss editions are just . Too bad I didn't drive one of those...

I test drove a used 350Z before that with low miles and was well taken care of. TBH, I actually preferred the Mustang's handling, but that totally could have been because it was used. It felt uninspired. I couldn't pinpoint any specific part that I didn't like again, but it just didn't feel right.

I test drove my FR-S once and it was like at first sight/drive. My friend, who is a longtime Honda/Acura devotee says the handling is far more responsive than most of the cars he has driven, and he has been in M3s, Subies and tons of Civics/Accords. I love how I can have fun with it in a very not-so-legal way, but also use it as a DD with little issue.

Point in case, everyone has their own opinion. Do what feels right for you.

Unobtanium, I'm glad you made the switch and hope you look forward to many miles of enjoyment out of your future baby .

The 370Z can't be that bad. I only test drove the 350Z and if the 370Z is lighter and more powerful, it has to be at least moderately good because the 350Z was pretty decent (shoddy interior though).

I also find a lot of anti-US car sentiment here... has anyone actually driven some new domestics lately? They have come a long way - I have a slight bias to Japanese but I will never turn away from driving a domestic simply because I rent cars all the time for work (I travel) and have driven quite a handful of domestics and the odd Nissan here and there.

Mustangs are nice but not the scalpel I want in a car. Good butcher cleaver though.

The new Ford Focus ST looks awesome and their newer lineups look great. I rented several Fiestas, Focuses (regular one), Fusions and they all felt great. The Nissan Maxima on the other hand, felt lethargic and used - maybe because it was abused as a rental? Not sure.

I agree that Ford has really improved. I drove the ST and it is a pretty good car. Considering you can get a pretty loaded one for about $22K it is a lot of car for the money. I really like the new Fusion's too. My buddy picked one up and it is a nice car.

I am definitely excited to see what Ford does with the 2015 Stang. The Mustang was simply overdue for a refresh.

I really can't say the same for Chevy or Dodge/Chrysler though.

My anti-domestic hate is with ford... but I've never driven a chevy... Ford... all 4 Fords that have pass through my house have all been shit... granted the newest one was the 06... and that thing spent 3/4 of its life at the stealershio

I almost test drove a ST, but I'm steering clear of FWD cars

Sadly no switch made yet, but there will be, either when Nissan buys it back, or when I trade it in in a year. This car has been nothing but problems, nor does it deliver in any other way, either. Not reliable, and not very performance oriented. It's out.

If you want a car that will mirror your FR-S/BRZ, the Corvette is the only one I have driven that came close. The suspensions feel like the same person set them up.

I never drove a 350Z, but the track times that the 350Z and 370Z NISMO layed down were near identical in the Lightning Lap, and the 350 was down on power. Oh, and the 370Z ate a wall because of brakes. My brakes have now warped BADLY 4 times in 22K miles since new, and the dealership agrees that I am not driving the car hard enough nearly at all to cause the issue, but they cannot find anything out of spec. They suggested slotted rotors 500-800 miles ago, and now my Z1 Slotted rotors and StopTech pads are trash. All for street driving. Fail. Waiting to hear back from Nissan corporate.

I also find a lot of anti-US car sentiment here... has anyone actually driven some new domestics lately? Yes, I had a 2011 C6 Z06. The interior was shoddy, the rest of the car was flawless, and the paint was far superior to anything from Japan.

Mustangs are nice but not the scalpel I want in a car. Good butcher cleaver though. I worked at a Ford dealer in 2005. We were all (well, I was...) dissapointed when they went with the 4.6L 3V instead of a 5.4. They have fixed that, and the way Ford as a company is going, you can bet the chassis and suspension are next.

Ford has to be the winner of the "most improved" award if anyone is. Look at their new chassis models.

Simi Valley, the city that closes at 7:00 PM . Been here for about 2 years (mostly because it's so close to work).

I test drove a non TP/Brembo car as well. It felt awful. The car felt like it was floating on water over its suspension. Then I test drove a Brembo car. Night and day difference. Still underdamped, but direct. I ended up swapping the struts, shocks, and springs with GT500 SVTPP stuff for some more shock control.

I have Recaros. Completely different seating position than a standard car. And I think I know a little bit about "nice" interiors. My car before this was a 2010 RX350 w/ Luxury Package. Wood and semi-analine leather everywhere. Heated and cooled seats. Drove that car for 50k miles. Before that, well, look at my sig. Every single one of those cars was loaded. My Mustang is not as good. But it also not nearly as bad as you say it is.

Ah... so there's more to the story... a base GT is as shit as ever then...

as far as the interior goes, if you can live with it, more power to you... but I always place my arm on the top of the door panel and that hard plastic feels like shit, plus my knees hit the underside of the dashboard... and as far as seating position, I doubt that changing to the recaro seats will remove the feel that you're sitting very far away from the edge of the car... in my 06 it felt as if I was sitting in the passenger seat

I was on the 10 fwy just now and a 370z was trying to get me to race with his ricer fly by's, holy crap I always feel like they have to prove something lol.

Sadly these guys don't know, I use to have one. They are great cars but the owners gots to relax lol, I feel they are taking offense to all the great reviews the twins get
